HOW THE HECK DO I GET RID OF THEM AND NOT LET THEM SPREAD?

My friend came to stay with me to help out. Which she has been a huge help but her cat has come for the stay too and turns out that stink has fleas. I have him locked in a separate room away from Brobee and Bandit but the last thing I can handle is dealing with an outbreak of fleas. I'm havingt every in my life hit the fan right now and I need my friends help. But I seriously will explode if my dog gets fleas. The cat I dont really care about because they have short hair. Stil dont want either to have fleas but at least that is managable. If Bandit gets them I am going to be beyond stressed.

Anyways, yeah. What do I do for this cat in the morning?

Bathe it with Dawn if the cat will tolerate a bath. Maybe have your friend do it to prevent yourself from getting scratched while preggers. Check out JessL's thread, she just found fleas too! Baking soda in carpets will prevent them from leaving eggs around that can spread to other rooms the cat isn't in. Bathing all of the pets preventatively is also a decent idea if they haven't been recently flea dropped.

I'm so very annoyed that frikkin Marlee brought fleas into the house. So annoyed. Nearly 16 years with Rosey and never had fleas... a few weeks with Marlee and INFESTED.

Man, what is it with fleas this year. This is the first year I haven't given Finn Sentinel and I found a few fleas on him earlier this month. Ugh. Plus a ton of our customers have flea issues this year. It's under control at our place now, but they're just the worst!

I treated all of mine with Vectra 3D (had infestation in August in September) and bathed all the animals in Dawn and started spraying them with ACV and adding it into their food. We were at weekly baths with Dawn and ACV (washed off Dawn, left on ACV to drip/towel dry) and that helped immensely. I had to re-administer the end of September and haven't had an issue since, but will be re-administering the end of October as I've read it takes about 3 months to get rid of them completely.

Pet parents dread flea infestation as it can make the life of the pet extremely uncomfortable. These blood-sucking parasites can affect humans as well. To prevent your dogs from getting infested, you need to get rid of the cat's fleas first. There are many flea treatments available. You can also use homeopathic alternatives. Try an olive oil bath for the cat. Also, it would be a good idea to keep your dogs away from the infested cat.

When I last had flea problems, I found that a dose of Capstar for all infected animals (kills anything that bites them within 24 hours) is a good way to try and catch an infection early. After that, I treated the resident dog with Sentinel (which has an agent that prevents fleas from laying eggs) and Advantix to keep any remaining adult fleas from continuing to lay eggs and just vacuumed the hell out of everything every couple of days. (Don't know if there's a similar thing for cats, since I don't have cats, but I bet there is.)

You can also buy a flea collar to put in your vacuum bag to kill fleas between vacuumings--flea collars only work in close proximity to fleas, which is why they're pretty shitty for animals, but they work quite nicely when you're corralling a bunch of fleas into your vacuum bag and letting the collar do the dirty work.
