Found this on CL today:

Lizzy is a lovely girl who has just lost her home and the people she has counted on. She's waiting right now at the Prince George's Animal Management Division shelter and hoping to find a great new permanent home! Lizzie is a 1 year old female Fila Brasileiro dog (ID#A296340) and you can meet her in person by going over to the shelter and getting to know her.
ETA: I contacted filarescue.org, but PG is very high kill so this dog is probably living on borrowed time.

If she needs a temporary home/someone to bail her out, I'm here, and I have room for her. I know how PG county shelter is from the stories I hear about it at FOHA... don't know how much time she has left there, and it would be a true shame for her to be euth'd when she may have a home waiting for her. :(

I thought you knew someone who wants her!?

The problem is, I cannot keep her indefinitely. Two weeks is the max. She needs a home, or at least assurance of a perma foster before I can take her. :( I can't adopt her and then get stuck with her. I don't mean to be heartless about it, but my parents wont tolerate that and we can't keep her. Before we get her there has to be some sort of lead on a home for her, I'm afraid. I can't get myself into that kind of situation...

ETA: Besides, as to the 'keeping her' thing, I am not ready for a Fila. It wouldn't be fair to her to keep her here long-term, even if my parents would allow it.

I can provide a couple week cover too, perhaps, but there's no way I can keep a Fila. I'm not even sure where I'd put her, but, assuming she's not DA, I can help if need be.

Lilavati, that will make busting her out much more do-able. Thanks. :)

Cristy - what do I do, call PG and tell them to put her on hold? I'd call now but doubt they're open, so I will first thing tomorrow.

I don't think I'm going to be able to pass the adoption procedure... They need us to come in TWICE, and bring Middie and all members of the family. PG county is a LONG way away from me and I was having trouble convincing them of going once, but my parents are dead-against going twice - it's going to cost a fortune in gas. And apparently the adoption fee is $100 for her... I could foot the bill there, although it would definitely need to be repaid to me by whoever adopts her, but I think my parents would flip out at that - whether they're paying it or not.

I don't think I can go get her. :(

We need assurance that someone is going to take her first, I think. Did they tell you how much time she has?

Renee, is there a Fila rescue?

Edit: I sent an e-mail to one Fila rescue, but more would be helpful.

She is an owner surrender, she could be euthed any day now. They have no policy on owner surrenders, but strays have to stay 4-5 days.

She has one application already, but the gal I talked to said it would probably fall through.
