Dammit. I wish Judy and Gary were still viable. They did a LOT of Fila rescue.

Lilavati, she shouldn't be DA. That's a very rare trait in Filas. VERY rare.
What about cats?

The real problem though is that with either Nolu or I this has to be a very temporary arrangement. I've e-mailed a rescue . . . but she needs a real home before we take her in. I really want to help, but I can't do this on spec.

That is weird that PG wants so many visits like that. Perhaps that contributes to their extraordinarily high kill rate. Maybe she'll get lucky and Ren will pull her (Ren is the FOHA volunteer who evaluates and pulls dogs from PG). FOHA pulls a LOT of dogs from PG, but unfortunately can't pull all of them. :(

Can you talk to Ren about it? Or give me her # or something?

I have no idea why they do that.. ALL the shelters I know.. you go in, come out with a dog. Easy as pie. A little too easy, but still..

That 3 visit thing is nuts. I can see why they might want to do that, but considering their kill rate, perhaps they are being a little too picky.

If properly introduced - i.e., "this is Felix, Felix is family," with an introductory period, cats shouldn't be a problem.

Buffy, Kharma and Shiva - and Bimmer, for that matter - all chased barn cats, but are all perfectly fine sleeping on the same couch with my mother's cats.

Its nuts. But its all to common these days. Better dead than anywhere but the perfect home. I think its insane, but you see it a lot . . . and we all know where it came from.

Wish I was closer. I could do a foster. I would be willing to do a foster but she's so far away. :(

The great irony of the stuff being spread around by HSUS and PeTA, and which has infulenced many shelters heavily is that it places almost NO value on life. This has struck me as deeply odd before. Death is preferable to even the mere possibility of suffering and exploitation. Its, um, actually pretty spooky.

I would definitely be willing to foster... but I live in a small condo and I know for a fact that Jo will probably say no... not to mention I have a dog reactive dog and in a small place that might not work out so well. Let me know if there's any way I can help.

It occured to me, today at work, that my associate mentor is Brazilian. So I asked her if she knew anyone who could help. She doesn't, off hand, but she'll be sending the link around to people she knows in the Brazilian-American community. She is eager to help, though she can't handle a dog that big either, since she has two small children, and not a lot of time. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have them so crossed it's scary. I really want to be able to help her, but as it is I can't be the one to pick her up from the shelter. If someone else gets her out, though, she has a home here for at least two weeks. :)

Does anyone know this shelters adoption policy with babies? I know some shelters won't adopt if you have kids under a certain age but if that is not an issue let me run it by my fiance tonight and see if there is anyway we can make the trip to pull her out.

I am not sure he will go for having to make three trips but it does not hurt to ask.
