My 12 year old daughter just came home from middle school chorus practice. She said, "We're singing 'Home Sweet Home' in chorus."

When I queried her on the song, she gave me some of the lyrics. I started singing it and saw recognition on her face and she said, "Yes, that's it!"

So, move me onto the porch in my rocking chair and give me a blanket. Motley Crue songs have become Middle School Chorus pieces.

I can't wait for "Shout at the Devil". Maybe only the Catholic Schools will do that, though ;)

When i was throwing clay once at the guild there was a young man in there doing the same. I put on a tape and he smiled at me and said "mom" music. never in my life had I thought of the songs that got me through college as Mom music. I know what you mean.

Well, when I was in middle school and high school, we performed lots of pop songs from various eras (80s, 90s, and earlier) as well as a lot of show tunes and movie songs from different time periods. So at least in the last 15 years or so, it's not unusual to sing modern songs for public school music concerts. We did Beatles songs, Queen songs....songs from Rent and a couple of Disney movies, Britney Spears songs, etc.

Move over... a co-worker wanted to know if anyone had seen a particular movie, and then added this caveat, "It's pretty old, it came out in '97." *sigh*
