Which is not a common thing for me at all. Im guesing it has to do with moving to BC in the spring and were planning on buying a house. Already we have started contacting realtors and Tyler will be talking to a morgage broker soon.

ACK!!! Im super excited, but I think thats whats making me feel anxious. Does anyone have good idea to battle it???

You are moving out here? :D:D:D

Are you able to pinpoint exactly what about the move is making you anxious? Or is it more general?

Sure am to Fernie, BC!!!

I think its in general, just overwhelming. Im sure when we move closer to the move date it will get alot worse as I will be leaving my parents, who I am very close to. So thats probably a huge factor in feeling anxious.

Ah, I am in Vancouver so that's a little far to meet up for a doggie walk, nevermind then! :D

Well my heart goes out to you, I am a nervous nellie at heart and I understand how you feel. If it gets much worse it may not be a bad idea to see someone about (not a GP, see a psychologist or psychiatrist), even for just a few sessions to learn how to manage those feelings. A lot of the skills they can teach you via cognitive behavioural therapy can be applied to future situations where you may feel anxiety, as well.

I am also very close to my parents and I think you are very brave to move away! One way of looking at it is imagine it as an adventure. Nothing is set in stone, so if you are really unhappy there, you can move back :) You are moving to a brand new place and starting a life there with Tyler - that's exciting! :) Also, get your parents Skype on their computer before you go. Free, face to face chats... Next best thing to seeing each other in person.

*hugs* You are strong, and you are going to make it :)

I suggest booze....

No, really, moving is a lot of fun. It's a chance to try something new and to escape your past and any limitations associated with it. It's a chance to reinvent yourself. Maybe you could look at renting for like 6 months instead of jumping straight into buying. The nice thing about renting is that if you decide you don't like that area of town you know you're not stuck there.

Ben and I moved 10 hrs and we're both really close to our family, so we make it a priority to go home regularly.

Get organized! That is what I find works best for life changes for me, I get a list together of all the stuff we are going to need to do and accomplish before going and it helps get my mind in the right order and allows me to take it one task at a time and feel like I am accomplishing something.

This^^

I have felt anxious for several years in anticipation of moving. But it wasn't as much the moving as the not moving...being stuck in a place I had really "out-grown." I was sooooo wanting to move for a long time to where my family is and couldn't. I almost obsessively looked at houses online and studied the markets in different areas and the areas themselves. The place I finally settled on, I already was familiar with because I had lived in this county before.

Finally, the time came and although exciting as all get out, it was still majorly nerve wracking. Its such a big job to move. Keeping busy was the only thing that kept me sane. I would recommend going through your house systematically, getting rid of things you don't want and start packing things in boxes ahead of time, whatever you don't need to get along for now. Waiting till the last minute to do everything would be over-whelming. Its hard enough as it is.

Your situation is a little different, of course because you have that added stress of moving away from your family. Maybe if you make a plan of how many times a year you can visit would help and that skype idea is a good one. But I remember moving to Idaho and that time I too was moving away from my family. At the time, the pros outweighed the cons. But that of course, over 10 years changed. Remember, you don't have to stay forever where you move. That's one thing about our mobile society. If, in 5 - 10 years you aren't happy there, you can always come back. But it is an adventure, no matter how you look at it. I think you'll have fun, once the house search begins in earnest. Renting temporarily isn't a bad idea if you're not sure of the neighborhood you want to be in. Good luck. And keep busy! :p

Oh shopping is loads of fun. First window shopping, then narrowing things down to whatever is reasonable budget-wise. I have been doing lots of purchasing of things for my new house. I just want it to have a "finished" look, then I better slow down. I've been spending too much. So, I expect you'll have fun too when you get your new place. Everything will all come together.;)
