this may have been discussed, but I don't usually see anyone mentioning adding fish to the doggie diet. Is it ok? I ask because I notice Ham really perking up when I open a can of tuna, and he usually doesn't care at all what I'm eating. My hubby goes into overdrive buying me tuna and salmon, and so I have a zillion cans to share. I'm wondering about mercury content (I know, even tho I live on the stuff) I also have some boneless whitefish that I thought they might like....but I'll be waiting til I hear if it's ok or not. :) IF the whitefish is ok...should I cook or feed raw? THANKS!!

I feed fish once a week as part of my dogs raw diet. It is best to choose from small, younger, fish because they will have less mercury content. I do feed Tuna and Salmon from the can if I don't have any whole fish available. They absolutely love it and it is great for their coats as well as the omega fatty acids being good for their brain development/maintenance. Just today Gunnar enjoyed a nice fillet of salmon (sometimes they eat better than I do!)

I plan on feeding most of what I catch this year to my dog. Not all at once but well into next fishing season. I like fish just not that much, unless I figure the best way to gril the fish I catch.

I don't feed TOki fish because he has it in his dry food. I think Canidae has fish in there. I would feed him fish but I barely eat fish.
