plotts- i like smithdeals nigger but i can't find a pic of him

i like the crossbred curs from Larry Parker, Mike Christman & Amy Kovac
http://www.huntingdogos.com/our_cur_dogs.asp
http://amazingcurs.homestead.com/gallery.html
All signs point to one of the dogs on the left being your boy, seeing as that is Hack Smithdeal and the dog was supposedly on that hunt...

Also, I agree - I love the Amazing Curs.

Now, some of MY favorite Plotts...

GRCH NTCH GFCH GWCH Hall's Renegade Rambo HTX - won the breed at the world last year, and took overall king of plott days. Last year was certainly his year :) and his owners couldn't be nicer people.

GRCH NTCH Midnight Brindled Becca - STUNNING dual purpose dog.

GRCH CCH County Line Kruger - Eerie's father. Have always loved this guy - he's not terribly big but he's pretty built in person. Nice dog, I always forget how old he's really getting.

GRCH GRNTCH Morgan's Losses Hills Dawn - Rage's mother, and one of my all-time favorite dogs. Her personality is laid-back and phenomenal, she's a crotchety old b*tch like Liz, but she's a force to be reckoned with in the woods! Doesn't hurt she produces fantastic pups.

CH NTCH Wilkinson's Thor - Rage's littermate (just about 30 pounds heavier...)

GRCH Wilkinson's Jebb - I loved Jebby, so much. His conformation held up nearly until the day he died. Beautiful dog, and my breeders' benchmark for what a Plott should be in the woods. I always asked, "how do you ever call him in?" "you don't, you go get him at the tree."

Lastly, I know she's not the best the world has ever seen, but she won her class at nationals in her prime, and I am so in love with her look... if only she was a bit less straight in the back... GRCH Hannas Creek Liz

I do think it's interesting that in a thread about examples of dogs who "embod[y] what the breed should be" someone would post a dog who is not to standard, half-deaf, and the result of what most people consider to be unethical breeding practices. The only thing remarkable about Casper is that he's a "rare" color.

Says a lot about what people look for in dogs, doesn't it. And why "color breeders" are so successful.

I honestly don't have a favorite Border Collie right now, but I have two favorite GSDs that I adore.

One just so happens to be Simi's poppa.
Artex Elbwarte, C.D., BH, SchH III, AD, IPO3

And I'd love to have a pup sired by this dog, eventually.
V Kofi vom Kiebitzende

Though, by the time I'm ready for another GSD pup, who knows if he'll still be breeding Kofi... I'd settle for a Kofi grandbaby.

I've seen both of these dogs on and off the field, and I just love them. Artex was the dog that I saw and said, "yep, I want a working bred GSD." I met Kofi for the first time last year and my jaw hit the floor. He is amazing to watch work, at least by my standards.

Romeo is my favorite specimen. Lol as I usually say to people "I don't LOVE chihuahuas.. I love THIS chihuahua"
He has the kind of melt in your lap I love you so much chi temperament while still being friendly with ALL other people

and he is built soundly, which was important to me. I don't feel like I can break him by sitting on him lol

His breeder did a lovely job :) I do like her dogs a lot but yea. of course I am partial to Rome.

And it's funny, people usually pick up on future pups dam (she is the more visually striking of the two. She has a blue/green eyes, she is merle and I do LOVE her) but personally, I always really really loved the sire breed wise <3
He is really everything I wanted in an aussie. The drive to work and play HARD, that sense of humor, that great personality with people (while still being aloof and having that edge if people seem "off"), that amazing bond with his owner, fearless. just awesome.

and he likes cookies lol

I find it extremely interesting that most GSD people(All I am pretty sure) posted Males as their favorites. Interesting.

Here is my all time favorite GSD..Hands down what a Foundation Bitch should be and the progeny from her is amazing. You don't see a lot of them in sport work compared to others and I am beginning to see why.

V Deika Von Den Wannaer Hohen(Sg-BSP) SchH3 KKL2

Boy Vom Pendel Bach is another favorite of mine.

Wespe von den Wannaer Hohen is probably my all time favorite GSDs ever. She was from the famous "W" litter and out of Deika and Boy. I have met a lot of progeny from her and LOVE what she throws.

Of course I love my boy's sire. Kinte Von Den Wannaer Hohen He was one heck of a dog. I spent a great deal of time with him over the last few years. He passed away at the age of 13 a few weeks ago. His drive was the same at 13 as it was when he was first imported according to his owner. I believe it, he acted just like Judge till the day he died.

Then there is Judge, I think he is what a GSD should be in a lot of ways. As always there is room for improvement!

Just a few that I really like. There are many many more. I tend to stay with the West German Working lines but really like the West German/Czech crosses.

Not listing titles!

Peaslee's Honey is my favorite ES of all time! Before we got Quinn I was set on getting a GSD for years prior. I can't remember if it was right before or right after we put the deposit down on Quinn, but at one of these times I was getting cold feet a bit. I saw a video of Honey on youtube and went "Alright, ES it is!" and never looked back.

I just adore Honey's son Peaslee's Tupelo, as well.

Flyby's Blazing Star

Kaschak's Dust-Dee. Sire of Quinn's granddam (pictured with him as a puppy in the second picture - picture by Barbara Brown), and also the sire of Duffy, the True Blood dog.

Oh, and Quinn of course! I have accepted the fact that my next ES will not be as perfect as Quinn looks, lol, I wouldn't change a thing about her and she is the perfect little ES bitch to me (well, her and Honey!)

eta: I could post many more dogs but 1) it's hard to think of all of them and 2) some of them I only know through facebook, and I don't want to steal facebook pictures! All of these dogs are posted online for anyone to look up, with the exception of Barbara's photo. There aren't many pictures of Dust-Dee online that I could find and I just love that photo!

Back for more, unfortunately for Pems, nearly all the dog I drool over are well long dead. Here's one that I'll never stop admiring, Teekay's Diadem:

There is one stud dog who I've found and followed for years that I would love nothing more than to have a puppy out of, Ginger Nuts Beowulf Big Mec:

Sit Stay those are some gorgeous ES!

Maybe once my lil mini/hobby farm is up and running...

Fortunately I think Kim is going to make a great catchall hobby farm dog, though she's getting a late start. ES are such cool well-rounded, well-grounded dogs though <3

I'll give a gazillion dollars for whoever brings me this dog. What a STUNNER! He looks ready for anything, too! Love <3
A lady I talked to last weekend had a litter sired by him, and I was SERIOUSLY tempted to ask her if she had any available, even though I have Simi who's only 7 1/2 months old. I REALLY want to have a pup sired by him. It's like, my dream... but I just don't know when I'll be ready for another dog... 'specially another GSD. Sigh. And he's awesome to see working and is totally devoted to his owner, who is funny as hell and really nice. He directed me to Simi's breeder when I first contacted him asking for help with Bella.

Very nice looking dog.
ruined by his name IMO

..but that's just me lol

He was quite famous... I like to refer to him as just the n-word dog. Story goes the guy had a black man working for him who picked up the pup & said "he looks like a little (n-word) baby!"

I have no idea how true that is.

Every time you post a picture of Plotts I get raging hound fever. *WAAAANT*

Do they bay as much as say, a beagle?
