    What is your favorite local food? could be something unique or delicacy in your country, state/province or city/town

    My favorite food from back home in Canada is Poutine... hands down.

    French fries, cheese curd with gravy on top. OMG, it's a heart attack in a bowl but what a way to go :D lol

    Haiti: The typical caribbean yummies! Lol rice/beans made RIGHT! Creole chicken, creole meatballs, all just makes my mouth water! lol it's all yummy and with plenty of rice!

    Miami: much of the same as above lol there is a heavy caribbean/hispanic population so you get plenty of that

    Boston: I can't eat seafood (allergic) but I've drooled over Maine Lobster and New England clam chowder before

    I'm from New York. Pizza? Bagels. Lol. There are plenty of local restaurants/joints that have food I love and crave, but honestly the worst part about New York is the food. It sucks. Well, the fish is good on the island, but otherwise, it's mostly shipped from across the country and not very fresh or full of preservatives.

    Well, if I still lived in the Bay Area, it would probably be sourdough bread.

    If I was still in Wilmington it would be eastern NC barbecue with pepper slaw and Brunswick stew.

    Since I'm in east Tennessee I guess it's moonshine ;)

    Toasted ravioli, which I think is a St. Louis specialty - the ravioli is breaded, fried and served with marinara and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese

    In NC, King's or Smithfield's BBQ, and/or shrimpburgers from the Big Oak drive-in. :)

    Apples! Oh man do we have some delicious apples here!

    Rainer cherries are also a favorite.

    Back in England I would say bangers and mash was a favorite along with gooseberry crumble and custard.

    We don't really have anything special. We're Kansas.

    We do have a fantastic local eatery called Douglas Street Eats that has awesome cottage pie. I thought it was good before (it was previously the British Banger Cafe but they went out of business and someone bought it and reopened it), but now with the new owner it's way, WAYYYYYY better. I go there every Friday for lunch. $5 for a giant serving of cottage pie, a dinner roll, and curry beans. And the service and atmosphere couldn't be better. AND they have a buy 8, get the 9th free loyalty card. Their bangers and mash is pretty good too, but it doesn't hold a candle to their cottage pie. They also have sandwiches, but I feel that's such as waste when cottage pie is an option lol.


    OH YES! I LOVE real Washington apples. They don't taste the same by the time they get here. A lot of the produce is very good. We used to go to Tacoma Boys all the time for fresh produce. We went to a farmer's market type place when I got Logan, and they were pretty cheap too. Asparagus for about $1/lb! That's unheard of here...it's closerto $3-$4/pound here.

  18. There's a little place near me that makes the BEST bbq baked potatoes. You have a baked potato stuffed with chopped beef and sliced sausage, butter, sweet or spicy bbq sauce, cheese, and anything else you want on it like bacon bits or sour cream or whatever. Sooooooo good. Oh, man. I want one so bad now. I think when I get back to Texas, I'm going to have to go get one.

    Now I must find out what poutine is and eat it. Way too many mentions of it lol.

    We don't really have a local dish per se. But I do love me some freshly-picked local wild mushroom in a good mushroom soup. Mmmm.

    I live in Oklahoma.... it's a cultural dead end. lol I can't think of an 'okie' food.

    TX? BBQ and Tex Mex and Authentic Mexican food. I've had a lot of different types of barbeque and Texas is by far my favorite. I love good tamales in particular. Chicken fried steak is another. There's a bunch of great towns to kolaches and particularly jalapeno 'kolaches' (I know some places only the fruit filled kind are kolaches, but most people call the sausage ones kolaches too here) in too.

    I miss Texas.
