I have noticed that all of my dogs seem to do the same thing right after getting a bath. They dive their face straight into a towel and just wiggle around furiously. They would drag their faces all over the ground. Something seems to be bothering them... alot. I thought maybe it was water in their ears. Can that be it? This would go on for about 1 or 2 minutes while I am trying to dry them.

It's the norm here !!! I always spread towels out in living room a head of time . I shower Ollie in guest shower stall and it's a race to get him out of the bedroom before he trashes the guest bed !!

I think pretty much all dogs do this. Mine (all 7) do. Some do it more 'aggressively' than others.

whats probably bothering them is....

they just had a bath. lol

dogs don't want to smell pretty... they wanna smell like dogs. Maybe they think they can rub the pretty off.... or if they rub on the floor or furniture (which likely smells like dog too) that they will get their dog smell back.

Belle and Beezer do it all the time.

Sounds about right Sparks! haha, my dog does the face dive thing all thhe time, then sprints to the back door... if anyone falls for the 'i need to pee..' face then i let them bath him again cause he's just jumped about crazily and rolled around on the mud...

He really does deteste baths, or being wet at all... but i think he starts to enjoy the face diving after a while cause he tail doesn't stop wagging!

Mine are too big to bath at home, but when they come in from being out in the rain, I have one that goes nuts for the towel, he jams his head in there and rubs it against everything (legs, cabinets, floor) LOL!!
My other one likes to rub her face on the floor after meals.

I'm a cruel mommy--I blowdry my dogs and then I put them in their small travel cases where they cannot nose dive....I want them to smell as good as they can for as long as they can!

Mine do it too - Ada is very vigorous, she'll roll on her back and shimmy around! Ronin and Ilsa usually just do zoomies. Gotta get covered in Doberman slobber ASAP after baths... ;)

I think this is normal behaviour - my dog does it - its because they are trying to dry themselves and also to remove the scent of the shampoo - although we want our dogs to smell nice unfortunately they want to rub this scent off! Mine will try to rub her head in dirt or even on the rubbish bin!
