I am very relieved that the plan for work tomorrow is to have everybody go in on time and then try to get everybody out by early afternoon. I'm stressing about the driving more than anything. I've got food, water, and coats for all the dogs to keep them warm if the power goes out.

Got up this morning to an email that our office is closed, so I get to stay warm and dry and not drive to work in the rain. Maybe that should go in the good news thread :)

Hooray for work being closed LOL. Brian made us a BIG, delicious breakfast this morning since he's home :)

Welp, last night the wind took out a tree in the front. Sort of. It's caught and sort of just, hanging there, threatening to fall on the driveway. Great. :p

What's it doing now over yonder? It's windy here too...but only 22 mph, not as much as you'll get. Or has it already quieted over there? I hope everyone stays safe. That's great Eddie, that you get to stay home today. Yeah!

Rain rain rain and breezy conditions. Nothing substantial yet. They are telling people that they need to be inside by 2-3pm, with the worst coming through starting this evening.

Yeah quite a bit of rain here, wind is just starting to pick up. The worst isn't going to hit until later this afternoon

Sparks, do you have a battery for your computer? If you lose power later this afternoon, we won't get to know if you're okay. I hope everyone is as prepared as possible.

Kady...that's terrible. Will it get into your house do you think? Got sandbags? Is this all from rain and not from a body of water over flowing? Gosh, I hope everything will be okay.

Nah, it's not THAT bad where I live. Now, 25-30min. away, there are people in kayaks!

Red Hook and Atlantic City are underwater. All the great lakes are expected to have surges of over 20 feet. They evacuated about half this island...we didn't get evacuated, and probably won't. Right now we're just getting 45+ mph winds and a bit of rain, it's boring.

Tonight I'm expecting most of lower Manhattan will be underwater.

We have a laptop but it won't have internet access if the power goes out but we have our phones and can get online from there :). So we will be keeping in touch

A few miles away from here is starting to flood. All the businesses near the water are sandbagged and the windows are taped. It's not looking good for them.

Oh good Sparks.

Kady...good to hear. Kayaks! Good heavens!

Well, brace yourselves. It's pretty dang windy here sometimes...right now, 27 mph is the latest I've read. I remember a Thanksgiving where we had some very high winds. Power went off, turkey not cooked. LOL. I think a Coleman stove finished the turkey. Of course, they're not classified as a hurricane since it's not tropical, but we've had some dandy windstorms...usually right around this time of year.
