I was just checking Cali's ears and noticed she has a bit of gunk build up around the ear canal. It looks like a waxy dark yellow/red, which I read could be a sign of ear infection?

I'm just wondering if I need to wait for the vet to clean it out or if there's something I can do for it, I don't want her ending up with an ear infection if that's what it's turning into.

Most likely its already infected. She'll need an ear cytology done at the vet so they know what's causing the infection and can give you the right meds.

Okay, I had brought it up to my mom a few days ago and I guess she's under the impression that if there's an infection, the ear will smell off. I'm going to have her take a closer look because it is hard to look into with all of Cali's ear fringe.

Hopefully we'll get her into the vet this week.
