I know we've had a thread about this before but I can't seem to find it. I just want to get the ingredients for the ear cleanser. Boomer doesn't have mites, but he's itching his ears like crazy. I did a visual and all I see is dried blood from him scratching. I think he just has some crud build up further down and I need the ear cleanser stuff.

Is it more economical to make the stuff myself or just go to the vet and pick it up?

  • 16 oz. bottle isopropyl rubbing alcohol
  • 1/4 cup borid acid powder
  • 20 drops 1% gentian violet.

This is by far the best ear cleanser I have ever used. It works way better than anything I have purchased through the vet and it's way cheaper. Just mix the ingredients together, shake before putting in each ear and then dry up excess with a paper towel. It can stain, so be mindful of where you apply it.

You can get everything you need at the WalMart. I skip the gentian violet with excellent results, though.
