Top Ten Most Dangerous Breeds

This is an editorial that is published online. I am posting it here because I found it an interesting write up of what is truly dangerous in our society of dogs and people. It is not something I, myself, have written - although I wish I had. ;)

And yeah, I'm talking to you, for any print or web media that shows that same doctored photo of a snarling pitbull with digitally elongated teeth
You know Looking at the teath of the pits we've fostered. If you just looked at the teath my Beagle has more dangerous looking teath.

Maybe with all of the bad media, and the breed laws it MIGHT make people reconsider getting a pit or staffy, meaning that only those people who really want the breed and are going to give it good care will get one.

Probably not. One can be hopefull though. I hate BSL

I was watching Penn & Teller's BullSh*t last night with my boyfriend - the episode was about gun control. One of the comments that they made and that some of the people they interviewed made (which I happen to agree with) is that laws that ban people from owning or having things do not deter criminals or irresponsible people. Those people are going to own guns or dangerous dogs or sell drugs or whatever else that they do irregardless of what the law says.

The people the laws effect are the people who ARE law abiding, responsible and actually care about the things that are illegal. So, the dogs that are illegal by society's standards will STILL be owned by the criminals - killing/maiming people and being abused - instead of being in caring hands.

That's what sucks about BSL. It doesn't really stop the criminals - any more than gun control does. What it does do is it makes people like myself - generally law abiding - have a more difficult time owning the dogs that I wish to own. If i were to live in Denver I wouldn't be able to walk my dog down the streets, or take him to a vet within the city limits.

Wouldn't you think that the laws should be promoting RESPONSIBILITY and PROPER CARE of animals, instead of just banning them? I don't know. I think that's what I would want to see in the person that is supposed to be representing me to the government... someone who is proactive instead of reactive.

You cant take them to a Vet in Denver????!!! Wow, the words I would like to say, would not be allowed on a family friendly forum such as this.

Personally I would move if Dobes were banned.

IF someone sees your pit bull out with you on the streets, i guess they can call animal control who will confiscate your dog and give you the option of either moving it out of city limits (after paying a hefty fine) or it will be euthanized.

*shudders*

I live in an area that still allows pits, but I am always slightly scared of BSL coming here. I have already told my family and friends I will move if it happens.

Great article. That should get forwarded to CBS and Fox News.
I agree...Great Story and well written.

I Highly doubt FOX would tell that side of the story, Bill O'Rielly has had several anti-pit bull stories and he mocks anyone who supports pit bulls.

The media in general doesn't find this side of the story exciting stuff.

Until we the sheep stop instantly believing the media, none of this will change.

Honestly, I have ZERO faith in ANY national media. I can't wait for blogs to shut down CNN, FOXNEWS and all such other drek. Make the **** reporters go get REAL jobs first, before they tell us what to think.
