I am about to reveal the true depths of my dorkdom. Not only do I have lists of names, I have registered names all picked out. For my non registerable animas. Yeah.
Argon- StillandSilent's Elementary My Dear Watson
Gambit- StillandSilent's Opening Night Jitters or StillandSilents Arcadian Man
Cheshire- StillandSilent's Grin Without a Cat or StillandSilent's All Mad Here

Actually, I could register Chesh if I could remember what I did with her papers.

I have a list of names saved on my computer (just because when I hear an AWESOME name, I don't want to forget it!) and I am pretty sure I have my next dog's name picked out. But I could see the dog and change my mind.

I have an issue picking THE name though, I am good at narrowing it down to 2 or 3 but then I can't figure out which one I like the most.

I also like names that are unique. I have yet to meet another dog named Teagan.
I like unique names too. I've been a dog trainer long enough to have client dogs with EVERY name, and it's really hard to come up with a name one of my clients haven't already used.

I had Teagan on my list a few years ago, before you joined Chaz I think. :) I was seriously considering a pembroke corgi from my friend's litter, and I thought Teagan was a great welsh name. :) I ended up not getting the corgi, but if my collie was a female I would've named her Teagan.

Of course, I ended up naming my collie Keegan, which is close enough but a little more masculine, I think. Within the first few weeks of naming Keegan, I found two other collies named Teagan, LOL!

Kiba and Stryder were both named before I saw them/brought them home.

Tsuki took a few days to name, first she was Tori, then Bounce, then Q, but then Izzy helped to pick out a really cute name for her.

Lincoln was unnamed for about a week... I was calling him PupPup or Red... Got his name from looking at old agility trial sheets and one of the Standard Poodles there was named Penny.. and Lincoln is on the penny and as soon as it came to mind it just stuck LOL

I had a bunch of names picked out for my first dog before I got one. When we adopted Django, which was NOT one of the names on the list, Ryan ended up not liking any of the ones that I had picked out. I REALLY liked the name Riot for a herding dog, but it was too close to Ryan.

With Saga, she was kind of already named before I knew she existed. Ryan and I went to Iceland and everything there is saga something. Icelanders are big on their sagas. To get Ryan thinking of another dog as more of a reality than a concept, I brought up that Saga would be a good name and started using it when referring to getting another dog. I may have used a wee bit of psychology on that one. ;) Fortunately when I met a scrawny Doberman teenager named Shiloh, she actually RESPONDED when I said Saga.

I have a bunch of names picked out for my future dogs.

The only name I have picked out for a future dog is a blue merle Smooth Collie, and I will name his Cowboy.

But what will you name the dog? :p
I didn't know Smooth Collies came with their own Cowboy!

(Sorry, I know it's not cool to tease a typo, but it really made me giggle. ;))

"Cowboy" is probably going to be my third dog, LOL. I have a few registered names picked out as a possibility... and they are all references to country songs.
Most of my registered names are references to songs, though I have one that is a reference to a movie...

Cowboy was Nikki's dad's name. Her parents' owners called her 'Little Cowgirl' because she looked just like him.

I've done it both ways....Lyric, I decided ahead of time when I was planning on my Doberman...not way ahead, but when I knew it would be soon. With the Chi's, I didn't think of a name until I brought them home.

I have a list, but there's no guarantee that any of the names will be a good match for the dog. I certainly didn't have the name "Steve" picked out in advance ;) I had been thinking about naming him "Tag" but it just didn't fit him. He just... looked like a Steve.

I had Psyche picked out for my female BC way before she came home. I figured it'd fit and be perfect or it wouldn't and it'd be ironic. It just happens to fit!

I had a GSD name picked out, but unless I wait until there's a B litter, I'll have to pick something else.

I always always think up names. I have a list of about 40 :D

Maddy was named even before the adoption was finalised. I had a short list of 4 (Maddy, Skye, Bella and Caley)...but I knew I would likely go with Maddy. I ordered her collar tag before I even met her

No, not really. I do have a long list of possible future dog names, but I don't think I've yet to name any of my dogs anything on that list. I like to wait until I've met the puppy as lots of times I have had names picked in advance and the puppy and that name just did not go well together.
