Nope. I have to meet the dog first before I can name them. Well... okay we've only actually named two of our current 5 dogs- Mia and Beau. The other three came with names that seemed to fit them well enough so we left them. I had a big long list of names for Mia picked out but they didn't fit her.

I have lots of names for my future dogs but I don't know that I've actually used one yet. Murphy's name was a contest between Murphy and Finnegan. We had Mu for a couple days before we settled on a name for her (I don't remember what the other ones were). Matt desperately wanted to name Tipper "Fish" and got very sulky when I wouldn't let him (he is not the one that takes her to class and has to say her name in front of lots of other people!).

So I guess that's my rambling way of saying, no, not really. LOL.

Yes, lol. I was planning on a Rage, but her name was going to be "Katie's infinite Rage" but we decided instead to pay homage to her breeding instead. Daisy, Liz & Eerie had their names when we got them. Autumn I named off the bat because we got her at Autumn Oaks and she was orangey-brown. Swagger... well, I've always liked the name, but he was white and I wanted to name him cocaine Carl.... no one else agreed so I demanded it had to be Swagger then lol.

Rage's half-sister's name WAS "Young Money" but I think they've changed it so now I don't know what to name my dog ! She was going to be "Young Money Militia - 'Millie'". I do know for certain I'll have a "Little Miss M6" someday and call her Bimmer.

My family seems to name all of my critters for me.
Peco - Dad named
Earl - my brother named
Acron - my husband named

The only animal of mine I have ever named was my horse, Nova.

I love Quaid! (And also Dennis Quaid... LOL)

I had a list of names and narrowed it down to a few before we met Auggie. Auggie wasn't the way I was leaning until I met him.

I already have a name and a registered name picked out for my second dog, but I'm also open to the idea that the dog may not fit the name... I have back-up names, LOL.

LostAndConfused - Love your sig. ^_^ I laughed when I read it. LOL

I have some names picked out, but I don't name the animal until I see them. And then most of the time the name's I've picked out don't fit. The one exception to that was with Sadie. As soon as I was told I was going to be getting a female black Lab pup to raise, the name Sadie just popped into my head (almost immediately) and that was what we called her from day one.

And just a quick funny - poor Tibby. Several people have thought I said her name was "titty". Poor little titty baby! :p
:rofl1: Oh my lord, I couldn't even finish reading the thread I was laughing so hard. That is hilarious!

Now that I've finished the thread, I will answer the original topic. :p

Yes, I pick out names before I bring them home. I always have back up names, but we've never had a name not fit.

I plan on naming my pick boy Darius. But it's not like it's set in stone. If he isnt a Darius, then he isnt a Darius.

I'm glad quite a few of you like the name Quaid. You are reassuring my thoughts, LOL. At first I thought I'd be the only crazy one who would like it.

I keep a running list of names I like in my head.

We've named 3 of our dogs... We kept Emma and Chloe's names because we liked them.

We decided on Rylie's name the night we picked her up. Ian named Tucker before we brought him home. Rory is Scottish and means "red king" which Ian picked out. He was named Rocky and neither of us liked it.

Thanks! I think all of their names are very fitting with their looks/personalities!

Grace was a name I actually debated before we brought Emma home. I love the name Emma, though, so I decided to keep it. I wrote a book and Emma is the main character... so it was destiny to have an Emma dog :p

BTW, I like the name Quaid as well. It would be cute to have a Quinn and a Quaid. lol.

Oh I love the name Quaid Brittany.

I have names kinnda picked out. Well a list of names that I like. I really won't go hardcore name picking until I have my name on a puppy waiting list.

I started picking out names when I was on a puppy waiting list for Teagan. And I named her the day I picked her out.

I also like names that are unique. I have yet to meet another dog named Teagan.

I even have a list of registered names that match some of the call names I've picked, LOL. My future dog name list is not a small one. XD
