I've decided that I since I'm going to be baking human cookies this weekend, I might as well try do a batch for the puppydogs. I'm trying to find a dog biscuit recipe online, but am having trouble finding one that fits what I'm looking for. Here's what I want:

--Something that becomes hard and stores at room temperature, just like a dog biscuit. No soft treats, or anything that needs refrigeration.
--No cornmeal or any other corn-based products. Zeus is allergic.
--No overly-uncommon ingredients. I'm never going to use wheat germ, barley flour, rye flour, brewers yeast or dry milk in my everyday cooking. I don't want to buy a package of it just to use a bit in dog treats. Not very cost effective or practical.
--I'd love something that uses cookie cutters, just because I like playing with cookie cutters. :D But it's not a big requirement.

So, can anyone help? Anybody know of a good recipe for me?

I just tend to throw things in lol.

Rough idea of dog cookies I have made...

boil chicken livers till soft. Remove the livers and save the water. Blend the livers till smooth (this can easily be done with a fork or whisk) Add an egg (or two) and 2 cups of so of flour (any kind you want) add water if needed to make a cookie dough type consistency.

you can toss in some grated cheese if you want.

Then what I do is spread/press on a cookie sheet in a thin 1/3-1/4 inch thick. Then bake at 300-350 till it looks done. If you want soft cookies cook shorter. If you want hard cookies bake longer. (40 min should give you hard cookies at 300F) then cut into squares before cooling. (you could cut out shapes then.. and feed the scraps to the dogs then)
