Our breed love similarities brought us together originally (GSD, Corgis, Dutchies), but Jason has moved onto other breeds. We like the same sorts of temperaments in broad general but specifics differ. He will probably always have a Corgi and small terrier of some sort. I will always have a shepherd and a mid size herder (Kelpie, Koolie maybe, ACD). That is preference for trialing but overall we do like each others' dogs.

He loves Chows. It was really amusing, as he used to fear the breed (he'd never met any besides my very friendly dog, but people told him skeery stories..) and, while he was friendly with Legend, he was always wary. Then we drove for two days driving the pets from IL to AZ and he ended up a Chow lover, lol. We'll always have two Chows :)

Haha, yeah, Sean definitely falls into the category of "wouldn't have pets if it weren't for me". He really didn't want me to get Jasper (to be fair, I was 19 so a lot of people thought it was a dumb idea), but of course fell in love with him. Jasper is his kind of dog, though (he's a Rough Collie). Really mellow and quite happy to sleep all day long.

Yarrow is way too high maintenance for him. I think if Sean wasn't with me he might eventually get a dog, way down the road, but he may not as well. He's not big on responsibility. So the dogs are entirely mine, not his, I do all the work, and I make all the choices. So that malinois puppy I want to get next year?? Yeah, still working on convincing him that's a good idea.....

Before me, OH was a cat person. He didn't like dogs and was afraid of his mom's Pit Bull mix, Bailey. After he met me, he began to slowly love dogs. He started to treat Bailey better and even began buying him special treats. When Bailey died, he cried as if he was his own dog. Now, he absolutely adores Saxon. Whenever I show him pictures of a cute dog, he runs over and hugs Saxon afterwards. :) He loves the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed, as well, and is always very excited when he sees one in real life or online. I think he's a dog person now. :)

No SO to speak of, but I do have a somewhat odd situation with two of my siblings. The three of us co-own our house. My sister loves dogs, but is not as involved with them. My brother doesn't dislike dogs. He's more of a cat person though.

My sister doesn't really know much about dog breeds or how to go about acquiring a dog responsibly. If finding a third dog was up to her, we would probably have something from a less than stellar breeder. Luckily, she doesn't mind leaving the actual finding of a dog up to me.

She does however like to have some say in certain characteristics. She's totally on board with bringing a Mastiff into the fold, but really wants a fawn or apricot male. I'm with her on the male part, but I'm not set on any specific color and will not be turning a puppy down if it's brindle.

My brother would be just fine if there were no dogs in the house. He would also probably be fine if we had 12 dogs in the house as long as I prevented any of them from eating/mauling the cats. He does really like playing with Pig and I have found him cuddling with her on the couch a few times, but overall he has nothing to do with the dogs. He thinks Mastiffs are ugly, but hasn't objected to living with one.

If it wasn't for me I don't think either of them would enjoy living with a higher energy dog. My sister loves rotties, boxers and bully breeds, but realistically doesn't have the lifestyle to live with any of them on her own. She does tag along to Pig's agility classes, but she just observes and thinks it is more or less the most boring thing ever. My brother's dream dog is a Sibe, but he's based that purely on appearance. But, since he doesn't really do anything with the dogs except for some passing chase/wrestling/fetch games, he doesn't get too much of a say in the breeds/types we live with.

I will say that there was a chance that I was going to bring home a PIO a few months ago and both of them hated the idea. They agreed that since it would be my dog, it's ultimately my decision, but they both thought Rufus was the ugliest thing they've ever seen. So yea...hairlessness is something neither of them are fond of. (Un)Fortunately, Rufus was adopted before I got back from California, so I never got to take him home.

No. He flat out told me the other day that he hates Rage. That being said, he doesn't dislike Liz, but he's definitely not a fan of the breed.

Sucks to be him.

If it wasn't for me he wouldn't have any dogs - and hasn't his whole adult life!

I don't really have a breed choice, per say, but Ken does agree with my dog choice!

He liked his ex's Morkie and thought he was the smartest dog in the world (because he liked to play and interact more than the Bassets and Bloodhounds he grew up with) and told me that was the only dog he was ever fond of because he was "smart". Alas, he wanted the same kind of dog and I was not going to let that happen. His requirements were a small, portable dog because we travel every other week, non-shedding because we wear black suits, and gets along with everything it encounters. (we got everything we wanted except for shedding - but I think the white hair on all of our black carpets and suits drives me more crazy than him!)

We looked at many dogs together and he's very specific on how the dog should look and I was very specific on how the dog should act.

When I thought that stardog's foster, Cody, might be a good match temperament-wise for what I wanted, I showed Ken a picture and he thought he was THE COOLEST DOG EVAR.

And everyday he tells me how happy he is that we got Crossbone and how great he is. He has to tell everyone he meets about his cool dog and wants to take him everywhere. I have been planning on having Crossbone at our wedding in June and I haven't said anything to Ken. Within the last week or so he's been telling people that he really wants Crossbone to be there (sometimes I think he loves the dog more than me!) :p So he has definitely been a Crossbone convert, but I just think we got lucky.
