Denis would not own pit bulls, he loves ours though. The malinois were his choice and if we didn't have them he would have a nice hunting lab. He wants to have his one dog, always, and the rest of the house is my choice.

It's not really a breed issue with my husband.........I think he'd be happy with NO pets at all.

He loves Orson (he also loved Phoebe) he's good to Orson, and Orson loves him too.

I think with Kevin it's more of a 'tied down/responsibility' issue. Want to go away for the weekend? Board the dog. Going on vacation? Find someone to stay with the dog or pick a place the dog can go too...........etc etc etc.
Another reason I'm going to a small breed when Orson passes. Small breeds are accepted so many places that large dogs just aren't.

I don't have a SO other, but I do live with family, so like the others before me, I shall post anyway.

My Mom has loved border collies forever, and is totally excited for me to get one. My sister who owns Wesley thought I was crazy at first, but now she gets it. The rest of my siblings are pretty neutral, they like cats more anyway. My Dad isn't a huge fan of dogs, but he probably won't be around mine much anyway. I don't think I could be in a relationship with someone who didn't like BCs, because I plan on having at least one forever. :D

If he was on his own my better half would not have dogs.

The dogs are my thing mostly... He loves them and spends time with them too, but mostly they were my choice.

We agree that we both like big dogs. That's about where it ends. Lol
He likes Spitz-looking dogs. I do not. He prefers females. I do not. He doesn't care about particulars about a certain dog, as long as it has manners. I do.

Luckily, he doesn't care enough to make it an issue. Lol So I'll get the breeds I'd like and he'll be like, "Okay, why not?" (Although he would put his foot down on a brachy breed, due to him not liking the way they look.) If he ever gets his "own" dog, it will be an adult rescue mutt, which I am also fine with. Easy to find a good dog that way.

Tyler loves dogs. Like allies man, if Tyler had his way we would have a house full of bullies. Mitsu and Tyler where made for each other. Tyler and I are
Pretty much on the same page when it comes to dog breeds. Except he wanted a Fila instead of a boerboel and I said hell no! Tyler like his dogs snuggly and snarky, but it does not really matter how soft or hard they are. Myself on the other hand prefers harder dogs. When it came to Mitsu it was sometime really hard to not get frustrated with her. Not that she was soft, but she was so dumb lol but that dog gave us so much joy. I really would love to adopt a non DA seniour pitbull. But when it comes down to it the dog breed decision is mostly mine. I should add responsability of the dogs like feeding, training, walking is shared.

My SO is pretty open minded, as long as they are low/non-shedding and well behaved. He would never want a dog for himself, but he enjoys having Matrix around, and likes my sister's dog a lot.

He does not want to deal with a puppy though, which I can live with. I'm thinking an adult rescue will be joining us in the next year or so.

Very similar to the way my husband thinks. Except NO he is not a fan of my breed of choice. I should be more specific in that, no he is not a fan of the current dog of my breed of choice.

I live with my dad and grandma. We have Mickey, a Scottish Terrier and that is grandma's but he spends 98% of his day with me. Laying beside me, laying at my feet, we play fetch and do tricks, he rides around in te truck with me, etc.
My grandma loves her Scotties but will always have a soft spot for Aussies because she owned them, showed them, started a couple of Aussie clubs, and bred them back in the day.
As for my dad he loves Aussies. If he had a choice that'd be the only dog on the planet lol.
I love aussies, Scotties, and boxers. 3 completely different breeds and different temperments and personalities. But I love them all.
Deep down, we are an Aussie family.

My DH probably wouldn't have a dog if he was on his own - he's just not keen on that much responsibility on his own. LOL That being said, before we got together he didn't really pay attention to breeds. Now he's been heard to say how he'll never be without a herding breed because he "likes how fast they catch on to things". :)

Well I don't have an SO but when I get my next dog once I have my own place my sister will be living with me, so I'll count her lol! We both love Whippets and are excited to own one (or two!). :) I have no clue when it will happen though.

Ian loves both chihuahuas and border collies :)

If he were to choose a breed, it probably would be a french or english bulldog. He also favors boston terriers, american bulldogs, staffies, dobermans, and german shepherds.

After having chihuahuas, though, he says they're his favorite breed!

Mine would probably also not have pets if it weren't for me, unless it were a lazy, cuddly dog. So, it really cracks me up that he is now in love with our "bad" animals, the Siamese and Malinois. I don't think he ever thought he'd own a dog that regularly makes him bleed while play fighting.

My man loves dogs but he's not as familiar with breeds, care, behavior, etcetera as I am. He grew up with dogs, unlike me, but his family's definition of "walking the dog" was, and still is, "letting the dog out in the backyard to poop." LOL.

He loves terriers, JRTs and such, which he grew up with, but there is no way in hell I could live with anything but the chillest/quietest one. They're adorable, but not the right breed for me. He also likes huskies and shepherds. I'm in agreement with him about shepherds especially, but I know (and he knows) that they would require more time in training and exercise than he's willing to expend.

He's so-so on Gypsy, persona and look. And he's not a big fan of sighthounds, which I LOVELOVE, but can handle the longhaired ones much better. I'm glad 'cause we will have a windhound eventually.

For him, we'll need a lower key, chill terrier or shepherd like dog. If one exists.

Haha. I'd love one, but we're over dogged :rofl1:

We were actually going to get a Frenchie when we were looking at getting Dog #5... however, we didn't want to have more than 2 different breeds at one time. Chihuahuas get along SO well with other chis, so it just made for sense to add to the chi pack :lol-sign:

Poor Ian. He gets to pick the next breed once Rory passes away (which won't happen, hopefully, for at least 10 more years).

I don't think Jin would ever really get a dog, if he weren't with me. He's never been big on dogs, and even when I started opening up more about them, he just sorta went, "Eh, that cool, I guess."

Last few years he's gotten way more into the whole thing and we've been searching high and low for a breed we can both agree on.

He doesn't like anything wirehaired. He doesn't like many large, long haired dogs(like Saints and Berners). He likes active, but he prefers cuddle monsters over just active. Then there were a lot of breeds he liked the LOOKS of, but they didn't fit him. And vice versa. A breed that fit him perfectly he wouldn't look at because he didn't like how it looked.

In the end, we've settled on Border Collie, Sibes or Malamutes, Rhodies, and maybe a sighthound. The only small dog we could ever agree on was Corgi.

So. Yes. And no. But I'm lucky that he mostly gives up all the dog stuff he doesn't understand and leaves that part up to me. ;)

When we first bought our house, I was so excited to get our first great dane. My husband hadn't ever seen one in person and had a bunch of questions about them, I wasn't completely honest with some of them. One of them was if they drooled a lot, because he didn't want to deal with dog drool. I completely lied out of my a** and said, "Nope! They are a dry mouth breed, and rarely drool." 6 months later he's cursing me as the dane puppy wipes his drooly lips on his jeans. :D

However, he adored the danes and while he isn't wanting another in the future, he isn't sad we had them at all. As far as the koolie? Um, ya, he loves her. Enough to get his own!

Brian doesn't really mind breeds as much as he does specific looks and personalities. I showed him a picture of the breed I may be going with next year, and he told me "that ugly thing looks like a deer"... Well, he's not a dog person so I can't blame him. He likes the looks of our dogs ok, though he thought our border collie looked dumb as a puppy. He LOVES Sir, because he's a hard dog that he can roll around with, he'll snuggle up with him, and isn't too loud or annoying day to day. Frag has the scream and hates Brian so Brian feels the same way towards him. Recon is growing on him, but is still a little unruly for him to love. He would probably get a JRT or a Pit Bull if he were on his own and decided he wanted a dog.

That said, I do everything with/for them so he doesn't really care what breed I go with as long as it doesn't bother him too much or the "dog rules" don't change.
