Yesterday after I got home from work I put Riley outside. Usually I go out with him but it was cold and miserable yesterday so I stayed in. My mom was visiting and we were in the computer room, when we saw him out the window.

He's been digging this hole, because he wants to visit China someday apparently, and he found a BIG rock. Rocks are the best.thing.ever. to him. So he starts running around the yard with his prize. He THROWS it into the air, then makes this face like "aha! you've escaped!" and then he pounces on it a few times like he is trying to kill it. Then he RACES around the yard at full speed with his crazy face, like it is going to chase him. :rofl1: He did that on repeat for a good 5-10 minutes before coming and laying by the door.

I really need to get a video of it because it is sooo funny.

LOL, that sounds too funny.

Jackson was occasionally. Like, if he's just really bored and I'm not paying attention to him or whatever... sometimes I will see the little lightbulb go off in his head, and he will POUNCE on top of a toy or something on the ground and just start pushing it around or kind of 'throwing' it and then going to fetch it, lol. So yeah, sometimes he will.

That sounds like my two. They'll entertain themselves a little bit...a pounce here and there. Chuli throws things up in the air, spins around, goes in for the kill. She'll do this by herself for a minute or so. But mostly, they want me to engage with them in their play. They'll play together, like wrestling or chasing each other a little bit too but it never lasts for a long time. They really prefer it when I join in....dependent little buggers that they are. :p

Hahahahah!! Steve is impressive, I can't imagine spinning and spinning the amount he does!

And No, Suzie shakes her toy and then lies down to unstuff it.

Mini plays with deflated basketballs. She throws it in the air and runs in circles, it's really cute.

Kyra plays with herself, but in the literal sense, if you know what I mean

The boys don't play. :( Once in a while they might de-stuff a stuffie, but I wouldn't call that playing.

NO. I even got them playmates and they still only want to play with me. The poodles do play alot with one another, sometimes Stryder joins in. Kiba only really likes playing with me.

They wont play with each other outside either, unless I'm out there with them, the punks.

Yes Teagan always plays with herself.

Its a God send because if I dont feel like playing with her she will just huff off and find a toy and start throwing it around, pouncing on it, act like its chasing her, stalk it and pretend its dead and roll on it.

Rory *loves* playing with rocks/sticks that he finds outside. He does the same thing as your Riley... throws them up in the air, bats them around, etc. Ugh. We have newish sod, and he's already dug a tiny hole in search of his beloved rocks. Crazy dog.

All of our dogs are very good at playing by themselves.

Mia's favorite game when she's being ignored is to put her tennis ball in my shoe, then carry the shoe around the house until she finds a backpack or bag (or laundry) or table. Then she puts the tennis ball in the bag or climbs the table and rolls the ball off the table. She repeats this for hours sometimes. She also loves finding things like textbooks on the ground and rolling the ball on top of those. Basically her mind works like "I wonder what would happen if I put the ball here? Can the ball fit inside this? Can I roll the ball off this? What if I put ball here? Or here? Or here?"

She also bats the ball (rocks work too for her) around and chases it some days. But the ball in the shoe game is her favorite.
