My mom's friend found a white dog that looks like a pit bull but has a docked tail. My thinking is that it's either an unfortunate pit bull or a very poorly bred boxer. Thoughts?

Keep in mind many people dock mixed breed puppies if one of the parents is a docked breed. (I've met a TON of docked rottie cross pups), so it could be a boxer mix.

Either way, IMPOSSIBLE for any of us to really guess without a picture.

The only pic is on my phone, but this dog:

Is identical except the eyes - one eye is brown. Pic came up in a search for white boxers.

Well... you did a search for white boxers and you came to us with a picture of a white boxer... I'm going to GUESS that the dog in question is *gasp* a white boxer ;)

I'd start calling vet clinics and shelters in the morning to see if the dog was reported lost, and put a found ad in the newspaper as well. If it's a white boxer, I'm sure a dog like that has an owner out there somewhere looking.

It's been around for almost a week now, we've been looking for an owner - no luck. :\ We'll keep trying though.
Where/how have you looked? Doesn't matter if the dogs been around for a week, he could be far from home. you should call shelters and vets anywhere in your area... even if it seems a little far away. Let them know you have this dog in case anybody does look. The people could be on vacation, had somebody else watching the dog and they let it free by accident... so they won't know until they get home. I'd take the dog into a vet also, to get it checked for a microchip, they'll do that for free :)

Yeah forgot to mention that, definitely go have the dog scanned for a chip. I know people will dump any breed of dog off anywhere, but a solid white boxer is not something you find running loose all the time. More than likely, that dog has an owner somewhere.

Turns out the dogs owner lives just on the other side of town. She hasn't come to get him yet as far as I know. Now that i've seen him in person I can say he's definitely a boxer. My mom's friend is a little stupid (such as thinking that calico cats are a breed. Duhhh.).
