Doberman or Rottweiler

Personally (and this is just my OPINION) I would ask a breeder before ever using a photo of their dogs ANYWHERE. Photographs are the property of the person who took them, and I would be highly offended if somebody was stealing the pictures I have taken of my dogs, even if they weren't claiming my dog as their own.

But, perhaps I am too sensitive. A so-called "breeder" that I was talking to and planning things with for over a year (long story, she was supposedly going to place a show puppy with me. I was too gullible) turned out to be a complete phony, who stole the pictures of random dogs and photoshopped them, and claimed them as her own. I still am unsure of what to do about this individual besides what I already have done - notifying the breeders of the dogs. The whole thing has made me drop most of the relationships I had with breeders over the internet, I just can't trust people anymore I guess. Just goes to show that ANYONE can pass even the most well known dogs off as their own, if they're crafty with photoshop and are good liars.

I know you aren't claiming him as your own, but it's a serious thing to people like me who have dealt with people who steal pictures without giving the owner of the animal/photographer credit for them. I'm not trying to bash you Rottiegirl, just giving my opinion.. I'd remove the photos if I were you.
I would be upset if someone stole my pics and claimed them as their own, but this is a different story. Its even in my signature. And I left the copyright on the picture for a reason.

I will remove the picture if the owner tells me to do so.

I think this whole thing is retarded.

I dont know how many times people are going to say this until posters listen, but if anyone has something to say about this.... take things to PMs!

There is no need to clog up a thread like this. This thread is not about pictures in any way. Its about dobes and rotties!!

Hey, I changed my avatar to kahlua when she was 8 weeks old. I just got my scanner fixed.

I am not going to change the pic in my profile though. If the owner wants me to, he will tell me. I am not one to be bossed around. I think the dog is drop dead gorgeous!

Rottiegirl dont worry about it.

That lady has way too much time on her hands and often tries to flame people for no reasons.

Just ignore her.

Rottiegirl, don't worry about it. Something similar happened to me on pretty much every list I've been on. I know that it's hard, but just remember not to bring it up etc. This issue will end eventuslly.

Aggression in background is not as big a problem as aggression shown to the dog by owners or breeders prior to collection.
i have trained dogs for many years and have owned Rotties and Dobes. I took my current biggest dog Ben - 65 kilo Rottie-x-Gt Dane and he was about to be put down for aggression and attacking a child. if i didn't take him (due to experience) he was going to be destroyed the next day. Turns out the child he bit had got the dog drunk on beer, filled him with rotten sausages (tons of them) and then while the dog was hungover hiding under a bush in their garden, they tried to lift him into the pond for fun. YES they got bitten, but ONCE and then he ran, which means it was self protection and NOT aggression. I didn't see the child being destroyed for aggression which would be more logical even if not 'civilised'!
Took the dog home to a 3 month old baby (NOT ADVISING ANYONE TO COPY THIS) did a few hours settlement training and quiet gentle reassurance and since then our little one (now 3yrs) plays with him all day long, stuck his fingers up his nose (nicely) and sits on him for riding round the garden. the shelter don't believe me!! Don't want to acceot they were wrong i imagine.
He is the most gentle family dog anyone could wish for, but only because of what i did with him, but then he only had a 'problem' due to what someone ELSE had done TO HIM.
Show a dog aggression - Aggressive dog
Show a dog calmness - calm dog.

Simple really, so why can't some idiots understand it?

plan to do a big case study with photos at new site (given up hands on training for other people face to face - drives me mad!!)
k9obedience.com - Dog Training and Obedience
I figure easier to offer high quality info, and if people want to read and learn, they can.
since being a behaviourist/trainer my attitudes have changed - i now think you should DEFINITELY have a licence to own and breed dogs, any breed.
I would never have said this before i started seeing hundreds of dogs a month in their own homes, We need a change, dogs need a change.
Us good owners must challenge unacceptable treatment everywhere.
Forget the discomfort of doing this - think of the DOG you are helping, after all the dog doesn't think of anything but YOU does he? If he does, you need to do a little training!!
Excellent forum. Sleeping bag on the desk!!

Also forgot to mention my opinion on Dobe/Rottie.
had both, loved both, BUT i am in the UK and over here Rotties do much better due to colder weather. Dobes i think are ideally suited to warm climates. Mine is an absolute wimp - wears my old sweaters!!
Rottie similar problem but not as bad. Heating on all the time to stop them whining!
My choice? GSD every time. Fur to keep cool. Fur to Keep warm, better bowels, better constitution, and less inclined to please themselves. Just my tuppence worth!!!

Also love Rhodesians. My mother just found one in a box on the side of the road in Ireland. Now has her at home, soft as shite as the Irish say, gorgeous dog, but stalks lions for a living (postman!!)
