Anyone else have dogs that completely shut off if it's wet out?
They don't even need to see it's raining, they sense it and just transform into decorative rugs. They can sleep all day without getting up once.

Also Robyn can predict when the rain is coming. It's freaky but she can tell instantly if we will be home before the rain starts. When ever I have to force her down the driveway on a cloudy day it's guaranteed we will get wet. If she goes willingly we always make it back before the rain starts!
......it's a little creepy becuase our walks vary in route and in length every time!

So does your dog shut off completely if it's rainy? Or snowy? Too hot?

Yup! It's like that here today and they've pretty much slept all day. Actually, it rained last night and it's mostly been cloudy today, not even that rainy, but because it's wet *gasp* we cannot go outdoors!

Bodhi doesn't care what the weather is at ALL. Fred becomes very delicate and might melt a bit.

But he did go out in some rain today AND got wet in the sea, so I think he's finally beginning to toughen up :D

Zander knows when it's going to snow. Or is snowing. Even if all the windows are covered.

He becomes very...naughty. And excited. And loud.

He doesn't shut down for any type of weather, though.

If it isn't 77, sunny, with a 1 mile per hour breeze from the s/SW, Saga wants nothing to do with it. She HATES rain. And dog forbid a puddle gets on her foot... Woe like you've never seen before.

THey might hold it for an unhealthy amount of time. But that is all. I wish however that Pepper could just move her bowels without the necessary stretch, sniff and walk. She is about to freeze me to death because it's cold and damp and I cna't be out there for more than a minute before I am miserable so we have had many anal retentive outings. i for one am tired of it. SHe is sitting beside me with her ears folding blinking a a pleading code at me with her eyes.

Oh yes... Beezer and Belle will sleep all day long if it's wet outside but that doesn't count for snow lol

Maisy is like that with rain for sure. She doesn't even like to go outside and get her Princess Paws wet to pee.

I haven't noticed that with mine at all. I mean, they both have really good off switches so when I lay around the house on gross days they are happy to do that but I haven't noticed they seem more sedate when we're having a lazy sunny day too.

Interesting though! I'm going to have to start paying attention.

Liz has to be forced outside if its rainy. Daisy has to be escorted or she'll just stand by the door.

Mine would be screwed. Oh wait, Sloan hates rain. LOL It's pathetic with our location but it's only when asked to go potty, play time rain doesn't phase her.

Aesop will not go out in the rain. At all. If you shove him outside, he'll just huddle by the door. If you drag him out on leash, he becomes a rock and refuses to move. He's held it for 24 hours before:rolleyes:

I had thought that perhaps it was due to his being born in a non rainy locale. But Goose is from the same breeder, thus same location, and she just hustles out, does her business and hustles back in without a thought.

Zoie HATES the rain. Snow is ok, hot is ok, rain is NOT. You have to shove her out and she may or may not go pee. The rest are ok but hustle in if it's really bad. Ritzy doesn't like the snow or the cold at all and will make herself scarce during the winter.

Ivan is ok in the rain as long as its not cold rain like we are having currently. Snow on the other hand he would rather not exit the house.
Peewee hates the rain, and would rather stay in the house or go huddle in his dog house. But he loves the snow and cold.

If she has to be IN the rain, Zoe shuts down. It gets right into her eyes and she slinks around miserably. Right now it's been -20* and colder, and she really shuts down in that, but she's been getting antsy inside, wanting to do things. I bundle her up for walks, but she definitely gets into hibernation mode on cold days.

She LOVES fresh snow, though! Just not while it's coming down and getting in her face.

If it's actively raining/storming, Missy refuses to go into the backyard. She needs to be taken out into the front yard on a leash. Jack will run outside super quick, pee, and then run back inside.

If it's just damp and wet, Missy could care less. Jack acts like the ground is going to bite him, and doesn't want to leave the patio.

My dog is the exact opposite. Chooks loooooves the rain. As soon as it starts raining he would whine and scratch the door...asking to be let out. And once the door is opened, you can practically see him grinning. There is really no problem with his inclination to frolic in the rain. But he has the tendency to roll in puddles...the muddier the better. Thus every time he goes out in the rain he needs to be thoroughly hosed down. This dog loves playing in the rain but he hates being bathed. :rofl1:
