I hardly ever try clothes on in the store, I just pick my size off the rack and bring it home. If it doesn't look right on me, I show it to my girls and let them have it if they want it or else I tell them to return it and get something they want. I hate hate shopping.

And that is one of MANY reasons I put vinegar in my rinse cycle instead of fabric softener :)
(I've been using my Downey ball for distilled white vinegar for about 2 years now!)

Not only does it soften clothing, it also strips away hard water and left over soap deposits, it also kills about 90% of bacteria! All for PENNIES! If you want an aroma like fabric softener would leave, just add some essential oil to your jug of laundry room vinegar! :)

NEVER going back to fabric softener.......NEVER! :lol-sign:

I don't mind the smell of vinegar, so I probably wouldn't notice a faint smell....BUT....my husband detests vinegar smell, has a fit if I clean the coffee pot with it and he's never once complained about any of his clothing. So if there is any to speak of, I'd say it very very minimal :)

I don't wash clothes before wearing them (except those bought at Goodwill) and leave the tags on until I do.

But then I do normally grab the size furthest in the back, figured it's least tried on and that's where my size is anyways! LOL

I leave tags on until I wear. I never wash before wearing. I don't know anyone who does and I have never had the thought cross my mind so I don't suppose I'll start now. I leave tags on until I wear something cause it makes me feel like its still "new" or something. It actually makes me sad to take the tags off cause its not "new" anymore.

ETA: I always wash used clothing before wesring. Just never considered washing new.

I've never had a store refuse to return an item because the tag wasn't actually attached to it. That would never even cross my mind. I keep the receipt, not the tag.

Guess I don't shop at fancy enough stores. :p

I take the tags off but put them in a drawer until I've washed and worn once and know it's okay. I have taken stuff back after a first washing because the dye ran or a seam raveled loose or it just didn't hold up like it should have when washed according to the label directions. What's really surprising is that, although it doesn't happen very often, it's happened at least as often with clothing that was considered higher end as with everyday stuff.
