Do male dogs that ejaculate regularly have healthier prostates?

In humans it is believed that regular sexual activity ending in ejaculation promotes prostate health and the cleanliness of the penis and it's surrounding skin. Real sex is considered best but masturbation holds a close second. This makes me wonder if the same is true for intact male dogs. Are intact males that have sex often (either the real thing or a human simulating it with their hand) less likely to develop problems with their sex organs? I am wondering about this. Anybody know?

considering that bitches are only fertile about every 6 months (as opposed to humans), and there is also a great difference in anatomy, i don't think you can compare health issues like that in the two species.

Certainly gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "I work with my hands" :D Sorry! Couldn't help myself! lol!

On a more serious note I think that not only would it be morally wrong, I believe it would come under the catagory of Beastiality therefore being illegal as well as just a rather horrid thought!!!

I have read that neutering male dogs helps maximize health in that area.

This is very true, lees places for cancers to hide ;)

I agree with Gustav on this little statement. Definately on the verge of beastiality. Which is EXTREMELY morally wrong and not to mention ILLEGAL.

How do think artificial insemination is done? They have to get the sperm somehow.

But at least there is a reason for that, and not done with human hands.....but a device.
Yeah, thats true. It is still gross. I dont know how they do it. I have seen pictures of it being done and it is not a pretty sight at all!!

Collecting is a medical/breeding thing. It's not like getting a full blown erection for them. I've been there when it was done with my Bushwacker.

Artificial insemination is done with a straw like tube and is inserted into the cervix. :p Semen collection is done several ways. Electro-ejaculation with someone holding a catch cup, using a dummy vagina with a collection catch on the end, a teaser animal, gloved hand method is where you would "massage" the prostrate gland.

And I second what some of said, you can't compare human antomy to animal anatomy in this way. And that neutering actually significantly decreases chances of prostrate cancer, eliminates testicular cancer, and decreases chances for infection and spreading it.
