I wasn't entirely being a smartarse. There are good sites out there that explain such things. It is very time consuming, and bandwidth consuming to post such info. Now if it were concerning the HOUNDS......that is easy. Two types of hounds.......Sight Hounds and Scent Hounds. Titles explains the difference. Plus Scent Hounds have long floppy ears, Sight hounds have Rose ears or upright ears!

Rose ears are like what Greyhounds, Whippets and Saluki's have.

Hhhm....might be fun to have some threads on the various parts of canine anatomy.....like layback of shoulder, turn of stifle, let down on hock.......i.e. what is "stifle", what is "hock", "brisket" "pastern", etc, etc.

You can purchase a book called "Dogs" by Raymond and Lorna Coppinger that explains the specific motor patterns that make a group.

Facts are all very well and good, but how about some real evaluations of the various dog breeds and types out there? For example:

Terriers - small fanged motors
Hounds - short horses
Pointers - hounds with better PR
Retriever - pit bulls with better PR
Setters - tall spaniels
Spaniels - small, clinging rugs

excellent book by the way. it offers a lot of insight on how dogs and their behavior evolved over time.

the full title is "Dogs : A New Understanding of Canine Origin, Behavior and Evolution", the ISBN number is 0226115631 and the paperback is currently on sale for only $11.20 on amazon.

end of PSA. :D
