My sister had a trach because she had throat cancer, it was a pain to say the least having to keep changing the tubes and keeping the area clean, but her quality of life improved no end, she also suffered scar tissue, which had to be lazered away, now thankfully she has had the track removed and the lazer work was successful it seems using a lazer reduces the amount of scar tissue and dosnt cause more afterwards. my sister also used a neck scarf you can get them so that the triangle hangs at the front covering the trach, but ties at the back with velcro.
