This is Coyote. Not Dakota's littermate, he's a year younger and one of the "repeat" pups from the same breeding.

Dakota at the same age:

His breeder said they looked a lot alike, but I had never seen Coyote before and had no idea how similar they are! :D

Standing . . . Dakota (yeah, sorry he's sopping wet. He wasn't dry for a moment while we were in idaho)

And Coyote:

And one more, lol. Dakota chillin' (on the job, hence the dirty coat)

Coyote chillin', all pretty and clean

Heh. Looking at that dog just cracks me up!

WOW, it's insane how much they resemble each other. Do you think you'll be getting another BC pup from the same breeder since Dakota worked out so well? Ohh and gorgeous pictures by the way

Probably not; I love Dakota, but I think he's a once-in-a-lifetime dog. :) Both his sire and dam have been retired from breeding, and her other dogs just aren't as intense and drivey as I'd like. I'm not sure if Coyote has Dakota's temperament and drive too, or if he's more low key. I love my Koda boy but he's a little overwhelming at times, lol!

Awww! They do look similiar!

I can't get over Dakota's eye's! Gorgeous! As good looking as Coyote is, I think your Koda has a better face.

Heh, Tucker, I think so too. I'm not biased at all, btw. ;)

Dakota has a very expressive face, it's one of the things I love most about the way he looks. I can say something to him and he'll raise his eyebrows and shift his ears like he's listening. He's smooshy and cute when it's just him and me, and he's intense and wild-eyed during work or play. I should compile a bunch of pics of him someday to showcase his many faces :D

Of course you're not biased! ;)

Don't ya just love the 'interested' look?

I walk (and will soon be handling in agility!) an ACD who has the most GORGEOUS face and expressive face!

It's amazing!

They are almost ID twins! I had to do a double take to pick out the thin blaze on Coyote to differentiate them. Ooh, big word and late at night...I should get points. Off topic...ok anyway, much gorgeousness to be had!

I've been looking at Aussies too much lately...BC heads just don't look "right" to me now...

Very nice looking dogs, and well trained. You should be proud of them both, they have a wonderful owner.

Wow! Very similar. But I still like Dakota overall. Coyote's build is more leaning towards that showy build. A bit larger boned and more hair. And the head.. eh, I like Dakota's head much more.

Wow, they look a lot alike! They're both beautiful. I LOVE Border Collies! (my favorite breed!) I have a mix right now but I want a purebred one day.
They are both gorgeous, I see what people mean by Dakota having a nicer head, though. And as always, the picture quality is amazing.

^^I love Border Collies too.. very smart and such great looking dogs.

RD, the resemblance is uncanny. I looked at your photos carefully with the headings the first time, aware that they were different dogs. I went back and scrolled through them quickly and they did indeed appear to be one in the same.

Beautiful dogs RD. I don't know about BC's heads but I think the expression on their faces is unmatchable.....so intense looking. Great photos!

Tessa, but you should see Dakota all pimped out (NOT my word for grooming. I'm not sure why my friends and family think that I'm "pimping" my dog when I fluff him up) He appears to have the same build, it's just all hair ;)

Coyote is heavier though, Sandy said Dakota's a little more refined. It figures, though - the only thing Dakota took from his sire was the profuse coat. :) It's funny though, Dakota's breeder says that both of those litters have been so consistent in type. Markings aside (a lot of pups in those litters were predominately white. In fact, Dakota was the oddball in his litter, being one of the two that was predominately black) this was like a cookie cutter litter. She can spot a Dezi/Cowboy pup a mile away.
