So I have administrative access to petfinder :p I was able to put Tux officially up last night. What do you guys think of his petfinder page?

Adopt a Labrador Retriever: Tux: Petfinder

Anything I can do to make him even more appealing? Thanks!

Thanks PM! I don't have any yet but I will work on getting one today. I may also add a little vid of him taking his 'strut' around the block. Great idea! I keep him so tuckered out all the time he only plays for about five minutes then is back out unless we are out 'visiting'.

That is one of the better Petfinder postings I've seen- nice description without being "cutesy", no typos, and good, clear picture. The only thing I would suggest is maybe trying to a couple of pics with not such busy backgrounds, just to show him off a little better. Good job! BTW- Tux is adorable! Good thing he isn't in NJ or I'd be in a big funk because we can't afford another dog right now.

Another pic sounds like a good idea. Other than that, I think the ad is very good. What a sweet face!

    That's a really good posting!

Maybe say why the dog is in rescue? Some people are convinced all shelter dogs have "issues", so if you clear up that the little guy wasn't given up for behavior issues, that can only help. The only other thing I might do is include the actual adoption fee, or an obvious link to the shelter's site so the potential adopter can research the policies and such.

Again, thanks for the suggestions guys. I will work on that other picture today and a video. Caliterp, I will also add something about the actual shelter so they can contact them for more info and add that they can check out ARF's site for pricing.

Good ad up until it mentioned Science Diet but I guess you have no control over that.

On the other hand maybe because Science diet is mentioned someone will hurry and adopt the dog and give him better food.

Uhh, at least the shelter is feeding their dogs and can afford to send the dog to his new home with a bag of food. Science Diet should be the last of your worries

We would be happy to accept a donation of better food:) I believe the shelter has a contract with someone for the Science Diet. I don't have any say in what we feed them.

shelters feed what they can. I dont know if you've ever realized but shelters have A LOT of expenses.. there is obviously not enough money to feed every dog expensive natural food.
Science diet isn't the best but its still food and its great that they send the dogs home with something

and ya Science diet does help out with lots of shelters.. they have programs and stuff. which is why very often science diet is what is fed.

[IMG] so which one would you guys pick or should I try to get a better one?

I tried getting a video of him by myself, didn't work so well, he was to busy chasing me. I will get someone else from the shelter to film him playing today.

This is a bit OT, but just out of curiosity, what makes the shelter think he's half coonhound?

Ok--in those pics he just looks all lab to me, that's all. It is harder to tell when they are that young though. He's hella cute--I like the first pic!

If you can, take him outside (so you won't have to use the flash) onto some green grass, get down right on his level (maybe even on your stomach).

Really cute expression on that first pic though :)

    It's a good ad.
