If the apartment wants to know, you could probably get away with whippet/chihuahua mix since she's not very big anyway. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if there was some chi in there somewhere.

Is the brindle what says dutch? lol
I wont lie... the brindle definitely plays a little into me wondering... but there are so many breeds that have brindling so my thought process isn't entirely based on that. She's more than likely a mix of so many things...

Like I said, we'll never know what's in her, but it's fun to guess... ultimately she will always remain my little mystery girl haha

The guessing game is totally fun, I agree! I just giggle when people swear they have a dutch or dutch mix because it has a brindle coat, prick ears, and a pointy nose. I've seen three recently who think (swear) their dogs are apbt/dutch because of these traits.

That said... Malinois are unfortunately becoming exceedingly common and overbred in Mexico. However, the Malinois we're seeing from Mexico BYBs are very big dogs (read: huge) and very mellow (read: down right boring, sweet, no edge). It's possible she could have some Malinois in her long before the Dutch, imo, but I see a rat terrier/whippet/etc.

How's her edge? Nervous/distrusting? Aloof? Obsessive? Quick to startle? Overly aware? Easy to re-focus/maintain focus? Biddable?

I can pretty much guarantee you that she's a mutt upon mutt upon mutt. Street dogs are almost another breed entirely.

I'd say whippet mix when you are looking at places to live.

There's probably everything you can think of thrown in there from thousands of generations back, likely starting with Xolo.

She is actually the only dog that I've seen so far that even looks anything like a Dutch Shepherd mix, but I doubt it for the obvious reasons :p In fact, a short bit a ago, my rescue had three different Dutch Shepherd mixes. Just because they were brindle.

Cricket is adorable, and I have no clue what she is :p

Oops just noticed this. She's not really distrusting although sometimes when she meets a new stranger she can be a bit more aloof and bark at them or back away from them. She tends to come around from it pretty quickly though. Quick to startle depends on the situation. With something she isn't familiar with she is very quick to startle, other things like the vacuum, etc she doesn't care about at all. She's very aware of stuff. If she hears the slightest sound her attention is perked and it can sometimes be hard to get her focus on something else. As far as easy to re-focus.maintain focus... it depends on the day lol. She's in her adolescent phase so some days she's really good at staying focused and other days she gets way too distracted by anything else going on around her. She's biddable for the most part, but unlike Bamm who is willing to please just for the joy of pleasing, Cricket usually has to have something to motivate her. She's very much a "what's in it for me?" dog.

Hi, How is Cricket? She's not a teenager anymore by the look of the date of your story... Hope she's great. We just adopted Polly 3 months ago and she looks very similar to Cricket! Shame this site must be very old and it's impossible to upload images...

This was posted awhile ago but I found this while trying to figure out what my dog is! She came from the shelter and her paperwork says whippet mix-she looks just like yours! I was thinking Dutch shepherd for her as well, because of the brindle and she has the same personality as a shepherd. She is also super fast and thin, runs like a whippet!
