I have an 8 wk old lab who I am crate training. She is doing pretty well with it except for first thing in the morning. My goal is to get up and get in the shower before i let her out of the crate. My older dog, Remington did fine with this, but Beretta cries the whole time I'm in the shower and when I get out I don't want to let her out of her crate because she is still crying and I was told NOT to let her out until she is quiet. Any suggestions?

I would take her out first. My dog always has to go the minute I get up. If I showered first, she would have an accident.

She usually is up at 4am to pee and I get up at 5:30 am. When I get her out after my shower she's not interested in going out, she's interested in being fed. If I do take her out first what do i do while I'm in the shower? Seems to me she would still cry until I got out.

Let her cry. But definitely let her out 1st thing, just in case she has to pee. You could give her a Kong toy with something yummy in it. When you want to let her out of the crate, but she's crying, you can hide, so she doesn't see you and make some fairly quiet, unusual sounding noise, something she doesn't hear all the time. Sometimes a pup will stop to listen for a few seconds. That's when you hurry and let her out before she starts up again. LOL.

Thanks everyone

Thanks to all for your advise. I will take her out first until she gets older and more accustomed to the crate then try my way again later. I'm sure I'll be asking for more advise, so talk to ya'll soon!
