Seriously.

Simi has been acting like she's been on doggie crack the last two days because she's been being crate rested, but I let her out for a little while with me in my room on my bed, because she doesn't limp as bad, and I just can't keep my 10 week old pup crated all day.

Last night it was this:

And today it was this:

And all of today's was after working for a good long session on her sit and walking on a leash, then a little bit of "controlled play" downstairs with her frisbee.

I can NOT wait until she's old enough to do some real work and has that much energy!

Poor Simi! I remember Keegan at that age - or even at the age he's at now - and crate rest would've driven us BOTH crazy!

Maybe you can take her on a car ride? I worked with a young, energetic dog that had to go on crate rest for TWO WEEKS a few months ago, it was horrible... until I taught him to ride in a golf cart. He had a great time driving around the neighborhood, it was good mental enrichment.

Awww boo for crate resting puppies. :( I know all about that puppy crack they take when they can't get out. Deepest sympathies... Yesterday was Keeva's first day back playing with the daycare dogs and she's sooooo much better.

For what it's worth, Rescue Remedy seemed to take the edge off Keeva when she was under exercise restrictions.

She's okay in her crate, it's just when she gets out that she's insane. We've been doing lots of shaping her sit and stuff now that she's got good stool again we can actually use some treats. And playing on my bed doesn't seem to hurt her, so we let her do that. This is day two of it and a) it seems to really be helping with crate training and b) she's limping less. So we'll keep doing this, probably for the week, and see what happens.
