I'm sooooo glad I found this forum, I was reading for hours the other day. I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer regarding a CKC Conformation Show.

After the Specials are judged in an All Breed show, is it only the winning Special that competes against the winners of the class ring, or do all Specials compete for the Best of Breed? Does the losing Special leave the ring or stay in for the Best Of Breed?

Uggg, I'm in my first show in less than 2 weeks, and even though I've taken the first set of classes, I can't find this info anywhere. Guess maybe nerves are already setting in, lol! My breeder is at a show this weekend so I can't call her either. Thanks everyone! Love the forum :)

Ok.

First, Specials are dogs who are already finished Champions.

They will judge all the male dogs who are competing for points first, and then select the winner's dog. Then they will do the same thing with bitches.

Then the Winner's dog and the Winner's bitch enter the ring with ALL the Specials, and they select Best of Breed (who goes on to the Group competition) and Best of Opposite Sex to BOB. Here in the States, they also select Best of Winners, but not sure you do that in Canada.

:D

Yes we also pick a BOW! Thank you for the clarification, I wasn't sure how that worked, whether just the Specials were alone in the ring, and only the winning Special going for BOB against the class dog and bitch.

I know we don't have a chance since my girl is competing against one of the Top Mals in Canada, and a professional handler. (her breeder). Maybe I should explain, lol. My girl has her Canadian Championship, and she was always shown by my breeder, who also shows my girls Dad (Toby). He has been/is among the top Mals in Canada, and now that my breeder has 2 pups from the last litter ready to show, I have to handle my girl myself if we continue showing. We love the sport, so it's just for fun, and Kenzie (my girl) loves to show. She perks right up as soon as we arrive and obtained her Championship quite quickly. I'll try to attach a pic tomarrow, but if your familiar with shows, Toby, my girls Dad, is 1/2 brother to Costello, who just won the Eukaneba Show! Kenzie, his daughter is my girl...Cdn Champion Spiritrun's Miss MacKenzie :)
