I was looking at an interesting book the other day. It listed the grooming needed for each breed, and how to groom for shows.

One of the things the book said was used on short hound coats as a finish was either a Conditioning/shine spray or a small bit of mink oil buffed into the coat.

I've never heard of either of these things before. I was wondering, where can you find them? I'd love to try giving my boys a "show" grooming, and then seeing how they look and take some pretty photos. :D

lol, I'm the same way!! I spritz my guys all the time.

I've already been flamed for saying that I use "biogroom" but whatever.

It's by Biogroom called "Mink Oil-Instant coat glosser/conditioner/with sunshield" It's fine to use everyday and the sunshield prevents your dogs coat from fading. It was $18.99 for a 355ml bottle. I love it.

The other spritz I use smells wonderful! It's by Botanicals and it's a conditioner/detangling spray. What's neat about it is, you spritz it on, brush them whatever. But the next time you brush them it re-activates the frangerance!!! This one was $13.99 for 236ml.

Their both leave ins, they both smell wonderful and they both make your pups coat shine! Whenever I take my guys for walks people always comment on how shiny and healthy their coats look!

Thats interesting.. I know that with Riots breed you AREN'T allowed to use conditioner on their coats as for shows their coat is supposed to be "harsh" feeling.

I never hardly ever read this section but the mink oil got my attention.

My mother and I would make special trips to the local fair to get Touch of Mink products. Now she orders them directly from the manufacturer.

Mink oil has to be good for the dogs coat! I know how well is works for my skin and hair! I would use it on my dogs if I were showing.
That all..Just wanted to share:)

That sounds like it'd be fun just to use for pictures & such =P Gonzo's coat is already super-shiney. When I take pictures, the flash pretty much bounces off of his coat! I do have a spray that I use when I want him to smell good, if people are coming over or we're going somewhere...I think it's the same Botanicals product that Roxy's CD mentioned. It works well, and I don't feel it's harsh on the coat or skin at all!
