eye ;)

Tallulah always goes for her purple toys. She favors her purples shirt.

Tonight when we were walking we were downtown and one of the stores that rents formals had a ruffle-y purple gown in the window.

Tallulah made a bee line for it and stood upright looking at it, tail wagging, lol.

I think it's safe to say she sees colors just fine and has a definite favorite. :D

Mine LOVE orange toys and blue ones. The red toys don't get much attention.

Well, they say they DO see colors but they think they're a little different than what we see. (well....that IS color blindness) So, if she likes purple toys, to her...purple is purple. It just might be a different color than what we see as purple. But anyhow... that is interesting that she shows a preference for that color over other colors. I've never noticed that in any dog. She's a color snob. lol. :p

Dogs can see blue just fine, and they see yellow fairly well. They don't see red or green. So purple and orange are probably visible to them as "colors" though not the colors we see them as.

Here are two links that show how they think dogs see. One is about color, the other about visual acuity. You can tell how dogs don't see as well as we do at certain distances. I use to do an experiment with a dog I had where I walked really weirdly from a distance and as I approached, so he wouldn't see the familiar way I walked, I was interested when he'd first recognize who I was. At first he'd look at me very suspiciously, like I was a bad guy. (I was just a teen then...not very nice to tease my dog.) lol. Then he'd finally recognize me and would get all goofy.
