Question. I was using vaseline to keep Whiskey's bum calmed down until he was seen by the vet. He has Enteritis and Colitis and is on antibiotics to clear it up. His butt and base of his tail is really inflamed and red though and occasionally his butt starts to bleed a little.

One of my coworkers recommended I rub a little virgin coconut oil on the area a few times a day and that that should help the inflamation and promote healing. I ran it across the vet and they are saying no coconut oil and to use neosporin instead.

Which would you go with? I'm worried about him ingesting the neosporin if he tries to lick his butt.
