I really hate it when Cid has seizures, I have no idea what causes them. Thankfully he only has them on a small scale, but none the less, they are still horrible to see. I noticed last night he seemed to be more clingy than normal and sure enough this morning he ran over to my feet and went into a seizure. He has been so smart about that, every time he has a seizure he somehow gets to me so I can take care of him. I have to work today and just pray that he wont have another seizure while I am gone, I told my other Yorkie, Scooter to stay close to him today and give Cidney lots of kisses if he needs them.

Poor Cidney! :( It is so scary for him & you as well. Almost a yr ago Chloe had a grand mal which scared the daylights out of me. Luckily she's not had one since.

A girl I work with has a little chi whose were getting more frequent and now that she is on meds she is doing super.

Iky, a Husky owner here on the site, went through this with one of her pups, Buddy. There are several threads about it, and you might want to PM her. She can surely give you advice better than most.

I know it's frightening. I used to work in a situation where I dealt with a boy who had seizures. Some were petit and some were grand; you just had to deal with them when they came and remain calm so that everyone else didn't fall apart.

Have you been to the vet about this?

I'm assuming Cid has seen a vet about the seizures? It is very touching how Cid finds *you* before he has a seizure to protect him, since there are special dogs that are able to go to their *humans* and protect them when the dog *knows* the human is going to have a seizure before they do! Always amazes me! :)

Cidney, let me know if there is anything you need to know, i know exactlly what you are going through. having to go to work and to know that you pup is home alone is very hard, there are so many things that go through your mind that you eventually only believe the worst. But hang in there, just take each day as it comes, and let us know if there is anything you need help with.

oh yeah seizure can be scary. Did you check their gums? Did you give your dog nutrical? I heard some dogs have little seizure but they say it could be genetic defect. But that is what i head so don't listen to me.

my parents dog was epileptic. he was a pure bred lab, and huge. he weighed at least 100 lbs.

but he deid a week or so after Christmas. he only live to about 10, which i guess is a long time for a big dog. but about the sezures, he was taking some medicil for his, but since he was so big, he was at the maximum dosage and still had them.

I have taken Cidney to the vet about his seizures and the doc said he would put Cidney on meds if I wanted to but since they dont occur on a frequent basis I am trying to hold off. I am not sure if this is true but the vet told me once you start them on medication for seizures you can never stop, missing a pill could possibly cause them to have seizures. Anyone have their pets on meds for seizures? If so, how is it going?

Buddy was on medication twice a day, and he is right, you cant miss one single dosage, you have to be very strict about it, it has to be a set routine. We found that after 2 weeks, Buddy told us when he needed medication. Buddy's medication helped a lot for him.
