Hi All,
I'm new here but have lurked a bit and people seem knowledgeable about doggie nutrition so I'd like some opinions on what I'm feeding my dogs. I have a 11 y.o. GSD and a 8 y.o. LabxGSD. Both around 100 pounds.
I used to use Science Diet and Eukanuba, but since I've become more educated about dog foods, I've been using Chicken Soup as the base dog food in their diet. I like to mix a large (35#) bag of Chicken Soup Senior with a small(15#) bag of another food for variety, and I change the secondary food every couple of months. Based on what I've read, I have so far tried mixing in Solid Gold (that did NOT work out as they had the runs while they were on that), Eagle Pack Holistic (seems like good stuff), and California Natural (also seems good).
Ok, now to the question. I was thinking of trying Healthwise foods next, but I have not seen much of any discussion of this food. It appears to be from the same people who make Calif Natural, Innova, and Karma, and the ingredients look good, but I'm thrown off by the low price. Its much less expensive than most of the other premium foods. Is there something I'm missing here, or is it a quality food with a bargain price tag?
With two large dogs, finding high quality food for a less than premium price is important. Any experience or opinions on Healthwise foods? Comments on the Healthwise or any of the other foods would be much appreciated! Thanks!
