What do y'all think of this article?

A friend posted it on FB and it honestly it grossed me out....

I don't know that much about the concept, but I do imagine the risks are much better than the benefits. And I totally agree we need to think more about what's natural in parenting, as opposed to cultural and society driven...but I'm not sure dragging around the placenta for 6 days is what a human would naturally do. The article makes the woman seem like a pretty irrational extremist to me.

In reading the comments, she is also a vegan, is totally anti-vaccine, and says she does not see a doctor, for herself or her son. Her son does not go to traditional daycares and schools.

And this is what she gets for it.

My child has already had scarlet fever and also chicken pox. I treat all disease holistically without drugs and understand it is the terrain, not the germ that causes the issue. I would therefore treat with herbs, food and other methods supporting the body’s natural healing channels. I believe such healing crises such as childhood diseases are beneficial for cleansing the body of toxic overload.
I think extremist is right .

I finally got this carry to work properly - front wrap cross carry in case anyone is interested. :p Ever since she discovered she has arms she's used them to push off my chest when I tried it.

Omg that is gross. I'm all for natural parenting but really after the cord dries there is no benefit. Also no one there during child birth? Congrats on your husband burying you and your unborn child if something serious goes wrong. At least a midwife would be trained to know when to call for help before things went bad. How many hours did she say it took for the placenta to detach? Yeah that in its self can cause major problems.

Also isn't illegal to not take your child to the dr when they are sick? I have always wondered what the line is on how sick your kid can be before you could get charged.

Did anyone have the issue of swaddling after the baby is rolling over?

Lillian does not sleep unswaddled. She'll fall asleep, but sleep for absolute max 30 minutes at a time (and won't go back asleep unless she's walked, rocked, etc.) so I'm still swaddling her, even though she's rolling well.

I kept thinking she'd outgrow the swaddling, but she's been rolling for 3 weeks and she hasn't.

I've never understood lotus birth, either - in nature, the placenta is eaten or discarded quickly, why on earth would even those who follow the 'natural' thing to extremes think it should remain attached?!

I know several moms who are still swaddling. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Everleigh was a freaking dream at the wedding yesterday. Quiet when she needed to be and super social the rest of the time.

*blushes* Thanks!

We've been doing The Sleep Lady sleep training outline for the last 5-6 days and omg. It's working surprisingly well. I think this is the most sleep I've gotten in weeks - not that she was a terrible sleeper, but she's much better now that she's learned to soothe herself back down. I'm super pleased, especially since I was just trying to get us out of the every 3 hour wakeup we fell into with the last growth spurt.

Allison that's precious!

Did anyone do infant swimming lessons? a local center offers them for free before 6 months, so Lillian will go in November and December
