We acquired a new dog. Gus wandered up to my yard while I was practicing agility. After trying to shoo him away I realized he was hurt. We crated him over night and took him to the vet first thing the next morning. Poor guy had some massive open wounds on his neck. A week on antibiotics and pain killers has done him good and he's integrating well. As soon as he heals up he will be getting neutered.

Zen is the red cattle dog (3 yrs), Rumor is the blue (6yrs) Gus is the black/brown mutt-dog. Estimated age 6-10 months old. He's 43 lbs. Breed guesses are welcome. I have NO idea what he is. :)

He's super handsome! And really really looks like he wandered into the right yard. Good on you for taking care of him like that! I love his all black face with brown eyebrows!

And your ACD's are great looking as always! Perfect grins.

The only Rott I see in Gus is his coloring, which many breeds have. And he seems a little small to have much Rottweiler in him. I'm not real familiar with ACDs, but is there any chance he's part ACD? There's just "something" there that had me thinking that.

I was thinking rottie/shepherd. I've seen rottie crossed with another larger breed dog and still come out relatively small. I fostered a rottie/lab not too long ago and she was pretty small considering; short and stocky and she had the same style ears as your new addition has.
Either way he's cute as hell. He really did hit the jackpot falling into your lap. :)

Thank you! My husband also said rottie mix. I see it in the coloring, but I don't know. He doesn't look like he's going to get much bigger, and at 42 lbs and probably 20" at the shoulder I am thinking possibly a hound mix of some sort.

At times I see glimmers of pittie or GSD too.

I don't really see ACD in him, although it's a possibility where we live. Most ACD mixes I've been in contact with have the mottling of an ACD, at least a little bit.

Thanks again though!
