Carlie had a tick issue about a month ago. It's all taken care of and I haven't seen a tick in a long time, but her skin has been dry and flakey since then. It's probably because I put Advantix on her and then saw the ticks the next day so I took her to Petsmart where they picked off all the ticks and gave her a bath that stripped off the Advantix. So I put another dose of Advantix on her because I didn't want her to pick up more. I also had the apartment sprayed for ticks. So I think her skin is just dried out, but it doesn't seem to be getting better. Her food (Wellness Core) has omega fish oils in it, but I've been adding 1 tsp. of olive oil to her food every day to help her skin get better. It's still dry and flakey and her hair has been thinner down the center of her back. I bought some oatmeal and aloe dog shampoo, but if I bathe her with it, then the tick meds will come off so I don't really want to use it. Any suggestions to what could help are appreciated. :)

A tick issue as in a tick born illness or you found a tick on her? If you just found a tick on her no need to freak out the next time! I live in tick central and pick ticks off of my animals (and myself) on a regular basis. It's seriously no big deal. Relax and breath :)

What is she eating? I would go and purchase a couple cans of mackarel that are kept in oil (the ones kept in water are okay, but the oil is better). Add some to her dinner, oil and all, and you should see a significant difference in a week or two.

I found MANY ticks on her....they laid eggs somewhere because tiny ticks were everywhere. Here is the link from the thread I posted: http://www.chazhound.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60941
It was a big deal. Trust me, I wouldn't have freaked out if it was just one tick.

I said what she is eating. Wellness Core. Where can I buy mackarel? The grocery store?

Thanks. :D
