I have been wanting to do this for some time and now that my summer vacation is here I can put aside some time to work on it. But I need your help. I'm going to be sharing this on other forums too. I want it to be good. It always seemed odd to em that some people would research one of their pets and not the rest.

This forum is a great place to learn about dogs. There are similar websites out there that are just as well informed though about other animals. I want to collect them all and eventually have a resource for all sorts of pets. The mothership of all awesome and well-informed pet websites basically. Books too if they are really good I think. I am sure there are other lists out there, but I want to give it a go myself.

So if you have any good websites, forums, articles, books, etc. about a certain pet (dogs too) then please share them here. I don't know about every animal out there and I know with how many different people there are that we can eventually cover all or nearly all pets. Exotics may come later I suppose, but we'll see.

I always go to a forum I trust to connect with someone about another animal to find the right information. After finding outdated crud about hamsters years and years ago when first researching them, I do not want to do that again. And no one should have to.

I will update this list with any links or books, etc. Please though do not share if you are uncertain of the value of the link/book. And feel free to call into question anyone else's shared links if something doesn't seem right. While there are different ways of doing things when it comes to pet care, we want everything on a similar quality level as Chaz if you catch my meaning. I have some links and such already that some people have shared, but I'm sure there is more. And a huge thank you in advance to anyone that can help!

I'll separate in general groups and we can get more refined as we move along. And if I'm missing a big one let me know!

Ferrets for Dummies 2nd edition is pretty well the #1 resource for all ferret owners -- even if they think they know it all.

A basic one for ferret forums is forum.ferret.com, and I'm sure you'll gtthat suggested elsewhere, but tbh, I'd leave it out. It's connected to ferret.com so they really push the products they sell, and people think Marshall Ferret Farms is the best place ever to get a ferret. They also think ferrets need grains and really push grain-inclusive food.

Forums have definitely been the most informative places for me. Even all of the books I've read on dogs have been ones I found out about on forums. Whenever I consider getting a new pet I look to forums now for the best, most thorough information. No one can proclaim something and not have at least someone challenge them, then you get wonderful debates going where people try really hard to prove their side, and that's where you can learn a lot.

This forum is good for Leopard Geckos:

This forum is for Hermit Crabs:

And this forum is for cats:

I'm not going to post dog books because there are so many and I'm sure others can write about those.

One cat book I've read and liked was this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Your-Cat-Simple-Secrets-Stronger/dp/0312358016

And this cat website is run by someone on that cat forum I posted. It started out as a raw feeding/cat nutrition website but is evolving into something more broad.
