Would a little bit of canned tuna mixed in with regular dog food be ok once in a while for a dog?

Little bits? I don't see why not, my dogs occasionally get little treats like that. :)

Do a search on feeding tuna, it is my understanding that it can cause heart problems in cats and smaller dogs. And should be fed (if at all) with care.

I don't think doing it regularly is good idea. Tuna is very high in Sodium and mercury (not good for anyone to eat everyday). For an occasional treat I'd say it's fine though.
