but we may still wonder why cats and dogs have to go on a speific diet, unlike the wild... in order to apease the digestive system. I only know this from pet sitting, the cat or dog has to to on a specific diet..... in order for their kidneys and liver to function properly....
I also have some som vet. recommended vit. and supplements as well as wet food. And various other types of crap.... and actual medication...
    and their food..

Good Grief, I almost give up! Thank goodness, I don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's an entirely different situation though - treating health issues. "In the wild" an animal that has a particular problem and no help from humans to overcome such a problem will obviously die. They also can't use diagnostic tools like bloodwork, x-rays and so on to find out what exactly is wrong. If a wild animal isn't fit for survival, it will die.

Obviously we don't let that happen to our companion animals, so in case of disease (dis-ease, as opposed to good health) that can be managed by tweaking the diet, there are certainly benefits.

I hope you understand that I'm not arguing with you here for the sake of an argument - for the benefit of the folks who may read this thread without actively participating I'm just trying to get the point across that there is no difference in the actual organs of the body (stomach, small and large intestine etc.) except maybe in size, depending on the individual dog. :)

Consider that you can cross a wolf and a dog and the resulting hybrids don't need a different diet either.

Wouldn't you prefer a fresh steak to some cereal - especially if it's served without milk??? :D

it's funny you should ask that very question...because I've got a nice 1" cut 12oz sirloin in the ice-box ready for 10 minutes of skillet time...and honey combs and no milk...guess which one I chose:

    lol
