So while my mom went to shop at Ross, since I know she wasn't shopping for me, I went to go to this puppy store nearby to pass the time. They just sold puppies and royal canin dog food, thats it... I thought that was pretty weird.

The pups were on wire cages. Its the first pet store I went to that sold APBTs puppies, I never seen that before, one apbt they had was ADORABLE though, if he wasn't a pet store pup I would of snatched him up in a heartbeat! This one american bulldog (they had those too, which I again never seen in pet stores) had NASTY diarreah (spelling?) and I could see its ribs, I could also see ribs on another american bulldog and a dobie. It was very sad. The girl that worked there was in her teens maybe and was more concerned about msn messenger than these two pugs who needed to be separated, because they fought nonstop, and her way to deal with it was banging on the cage with a newspaper very loudly  They had adult dogs in the back which I though was weird, they had some bulldogs and an american bulldog, do you think it could be these pups parents? It made me wonder if the pups were even weaned yet! This store just really sicken me, but do you think I could report the malnourished puppies I saw? And to whom exactly do I take this up to?

here's a pic of the skinny american bulldog...is it skinny enough to be saId to be malnourished? I thought so, I just want some 2nd opinions.

i'd report it. Say the dogs look malnourished and underfed.

They've closed numerous pet stores down around here, including the one Milo was in, for less serious violations than those.

I think those guys look REALLY thin for pups! Puppies should be a tad rollie pollie IMO.

I would report it and just SEE if you can get an official in there to have a peek, couldn't hurt to try!

I see no food cages so I'd report ASAP. unfortunately they'll probably come but say "put food in the cages" come back in a week and find that they have done so and then that will be the end of it. I wish they would ban selling puppies in pet stores but it's perfectly legal. but they do look too thin :(

put in some complaints with the local USDA and Dog wardens, as many as possible...
they will go out and inspect...

otherwise theres realy not much else you can do...

i had pictures of pups at a store i worked for undercover for an article that made those puppies look fat and the usda officer passed the store anyway, now i do what i can keeping posts on craiglist and the newspaper and forums and such to tell people what these places are realy like!

the IDEA of a puppy store is actually a fairly good one...i mean how is it a bad idea to be able to compare dogs of different breeds side to side, but they took what could have actually been a great idea and turned it into this....
mills, mass producers and bybs, and staff without a clue, just sickens me

as a side note, these places tend to try and hire teens and others who think puppies are adorable but dont know much about dogs at all, that way they can tell their employees all sorts...

the place i used to work at had a huge oubreak of parvo, 6 pups in 3 days died, and he told all the employees that "parvo is "one of those things" that puppies get and most are ok" and "its realy not that big a deal" and "its not that contagious if you just wash your hands" and my favorite... "the vets and stuff try and make it seem scarier than it is!" :yikes:

i encoraged all the employees to use BLEACH on pretyt much everythign and reported it to the usda...they came out, he hid the illegal meds (he was self medicating the dogs) and when he saw the usda officer he took the sick pups form back and loaded them into his car parked in back while the young girl "kept her busy" no sick dogs on premises, no sighns of meds and she passed him...

i couldnt take naymore even for an article and quit that night.
    there sick sick places!

For a place that ask outrageous prices for puppies and doesn't even have that many dogs, I wonder why these dogs are so thin. I hope its nothing serious, like a disease. Glad I use hand anti-bacterial on my hands after I left. You would atleast want the dogs to look healthy to sell, even my mom who's not a dog person at all, thought the dogs were too thin.

So the AC doesn't pick up the phone, and I had no luck finding a contact number for my local usda and I don't believe we have dog wardens? I stay in Broward County, FL....in south florida.

    Here's their website
