Butters died yesterday very suddenly. She was almost a year old as far as I could tell.
I'm not sure exactly what did it, I have a feeling it had to do with the diet change for them. I think maybe she was allergic to something, or she had an underlying condition the entire time that was exasperated by the change in nutrition.
The other possibility I can think of is Egg binding. I never saw her with any of the males, but she is very friendly with Lemon (one of my males) and she was in breeding condition. Unfortunetly her and Luna being my only two females, and only having two cages right now I couldn't separate her from the males. Luna would kill her if I put her in the cage with her and Luna's babies. So that's a possibility as well.
Either way, it happened suddenly. The other birds all look fine, but for now I'm keeping everyone away from the newborns except the parents, just in case.
She as such a pretty yellow bird to! The most gorgeous, and I'd have to say my favorite, of my budgies. I'm really sad to see her go.
