Butler Blue II, affectionately known as "Twoey", passed away over the weekend.

He was the official live mascot of Butler University, though he retired from active duty this past May, following the end of the school year.

This dog was something else. He was at nearly every home football and basketball game. He attended two back-to-back NCAA Div. I Basketball Championships. I've never seen a dog that knew how to work a camera like Twoey did. He was originally supposed to just be a "dog on campus", but this little bulldog (and credit to his caretaker) filled a much, much bigger role than that. I'm willing to bet that everybody out there that follows any college sports at all has seen Twoey's face before.

My husband attended Butler University. The Butler community is reeling at the loss. Heck, Butler Blue II was an icon to the whole city. In addition to his athletic event appearances, he attended events all over Indianapolis for fundraisers, charities, elementary school visits, etc. Everybody misses him.

I'm just in tears. This dog was special. We were already sad when he retired. We are heartbroken that he's gone.

Good boy, Blue.
