Hello! My name is Ali. I was referred by a friend to come check out this forum. I am excited to see what I can learn and in turn share some of my knowledge with others!

I'm the assistant manager for a feed store on an equestrian property a mile from my house that carries higher-end pet foods, as well as livestock feeds. I am hoping to become a RVT in the next few years through a distance-learning program and apprenticeship. If I should decide that clinical work is not for me, I will probably seek employment with a natural, raw dog food company or seek an apprenticeship with a respected dog trainer.

I have two dogs who are the loves of my lives.

First up is Sandy. She is a 12-13 year old (rescue said she was between 3-4 when my mom and I got her, and that was 9 years ago this coming fall) Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix. She was my childhood buddy, and she went nearly everywhere with me. In her older age, she prefers to lounge around the house. Her favorite activity is coming to work with me, where she soaks up attention from my customers and naps all day. Currently I am hoping to gain some insight in to how I can help her lose some weight. She was diagnosed with a Grade 3 Heart murmur about 4 months ago. That, combined with the sudden weight gain has really put me on edge about her health. She is currently eating Sojos pre-mix raw, about 1/4th cup under the recommended serving amount for her weight bracket.

Next is my puppy Rowan. He is a 14 month old Miniature Australian Shepherd. Currently we are working through the "teenage" phase where he feels the need to challenge any command my husband and I (but mostly my husband, tee-hee) give him. That being said, he is such a good boy and I am amazed at how intelligent he is constantly. Now that he is over a year, we are going to begin lessons with an agility trainer. He has been desensitized and knows the commands for the obstacles, so it will be fun to watch him put some drive and speed into his runs! I am also hoping to begin herding with him. Currently he herds my personal animals (I own ducks, goats, and chickens), but he definitely needs training if we're going to put any titles on him!

Finally, we will possibly be adding a German Shepherd puppy to our family in the next few weeks. A week from now we will be meeting the breeder's pick for our home and making sure she is a good match. My husband has been wanting a GSD forever, and so I decided to "surprise" him for his birthday a few weeks ago. I'm sure I will be going crazy pulling my hair out with TWO puppies in the household, but at least they'll be able to entertain each other, which i'm sure my old gal will be more than pleased about! :p

Anyways, can't wait to meet everybody and see everyone's adorable pups!

I Ali and welcome to Chazhound.

We can't see your photos - looks like you tried to link them from Facebook. It's usually best to put them on a photo sharing site like photobucket or flickr.

Hope to get to know you and your pups soon!
