Finally this nightmare is over!

..are you seriously saying that white nutjubs, as a whole, haven't collaborated, funded, and worked together to kill a bunch of people?
really? you don't think that's common? Just as much or more-so than any other group?

Find your nearest history book and go ahead and peruse through it. You'll find a quite a few genocides that beg to differ. Like oh I dunno.. HITLER!
More recently the KKK, WBC and a bunch of other horrible group gang violence and hate crimes are just as easy to fish out.

Hate groups are not group/race/religion specific.
and to say that bias is ok because some cultures have it more often than others is wrong or that it is more likely in some than others is even more wrong.

with that, I am 100% done with this thread.
The suspects has been caught and there are some people outside partying
Just adding an example: Oklahoma City Bombing. White perpetrators and, if I'm not mistaken, members or maybe just sympathizers of a militia group. Militia groups are OUR very own, home-grown terrorists. This was very recent, not even 20 years ago.

Militia does not equal terrorist. Every able bodied citizen of the USA is part of the militia, or is supposed to be, unless you've renounced your country and citizenship.

white nutjobs don't seem to collaborate with several others who encourage each other, fund each other, and then carry it out together. Usually it's one or two people. Presumably because it is hard to find like-minded people who are receptive to the idea of killing innocents.

This is not saying that "in recent news" or "recent killings" this said, point blank, that white nutjobs don't seem to collaborate with several others. and regardless, murders and violence by hate groups largely composed of white people happen ALL THE TIME. A hate group is a hate group is a hate group, the media just doesn't sensationalize it or highlight their race because hey, media bias.
That's probably why you haven't heard about them more, because when groups or people kill and it's not of a certain minority race, it isn't highlighted.

Please read it again and maybe you will understand why I'm upset. The idea that it is somehow harder to find like minded people who are receptive to killing innocents in one race more-so than another, that the idea is spread around and accepted and nobody ratted anybody out because it's largely ok.. is INSULTING.

I am not trying to make people feel stupid and I'm sorry if that's how it's coming off but that right there is not an innocent observation or opinion based on recent happenings.

Perhaps her post is badly worded or she didn't mean it that way, and fine.

but take a moment and imagine what it would feel like if someone was like "well, it's just easier to find people like you who are willing to go kill innocent people, you know?"

It
friking
hurts.

I am not trying to be enlightened, I am not trying to make people feel dumb I am trying to express that maybe the things you are saying are hurtful.
It's understandable. When you are on one side and it seems everyone else is on the otherside they seem to have no idea that the things they say might be hurtful to others. I know. I won't give examples because I am sure everyone can guess what my examples of hurtful comments might be and most don't agree that it's hurtful. But most aren't TRYING to be hurtful and I don't think that on it's own equals racism or intolerance for religion. It is just hard to see from a different perspective. Just as you did not intend to come off as treating people like they don't know anything when it may have been perceived that way.

Not in any modern sense.

Not in the sense of people running around the countryside running war games while having ties to white supremacist groups. The way its been co-opted, I'd have to punch anyone who said I was in a militia.

So happy this is all over. Am actually shaking.

As someone else said, hope he sings like a canary. A negotiator got him out from under the boat and took him into custody.

It doesn't even feel real.

I hope the guy whose boat he hid under gets a new boat. and a medal for seeing that his tarp was ripped and calling the police

and I hope all the law enforcement officers get awards and long leisurely days off.. this must have been such a horrible day for them.

There have been law enforcement and military men active on EVERY train stop, the race site, not to mention those activily in pursuit of this guy.

Everyone of them deserves a holiday.

Since the context of the conversation is this bombing (recent attempted mass killing and maiming) and you were bringing up Sandy Hook (recent mass killing) I guess I didn't think to specify that I was talking about recent mass killings... so to clarify again, I'm talking about recent mass killings. If you don't want to talk about it... that's fine by me. But you brought up the topic and I don't completely agree with you, so I responded with what I think is a valid point about one reason why people react perceive things differently depending on the perpetrators.

Absolutely agree.

What a relief for all those working the case, the people of Boston and the whole country that has been following every movement.

The owner of the yard deserves something special

The cops deserve SO much. All their time, stress, lost time with their families. It is truly amazing. Let us remember this the next time there is a news report of an officer ahooting a suspect and knstead of instantly persecuting them... Find the facts and THANK GOD they did their job and get to go home to their loved ones.

Thank you Lord for closure tonight

Serious condition is below Critical. They expect his wounds will be treated and he will recover. They did transfer him to a different hospital for further treatment from what I heard before the press conference.

In the news conference, they were saying he was uncommunicative and was not talked out...but who knows...it was all a bit chaotic and the person speaking may not have had the full story as he said he was not on the scene

I just woke up from a nap 15 minutes ago, but from what they've just said the reporters seem to waiver between serious and critical.

Thank God they caught him and caught him alive! I pray that they get tons of good info from him!

"We used a robot to pull the tarp off the boat," David Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police said. "We were also watching him with a thermal imaging camera in our helicopter. He was weakened by blood loss -- injured last night most likely,"

Tsarnaev was taken into custody after authorities rushed the boat, Davis said.

I'm thinking that doesn't sound like he came willingly and on his own but maybe I'm not reading it correctly? That's off CNN.

That's him.

An officer posted it on twitter I believe. I imagine he's resigned, exhausted, in pain, in shock and weak from loss of blood, hence the kinda lifeless appearance. It doesn't sound like he's in totally dire straits, at any rate.

a few weeks ago the guy was treating about game of thrones and procrastinating on homework and just..being a regular 19 year old.

it scares me that he was capable of such..brutality.

I mean you expect someone who does these things to be this horrible sociopath.

and then I'm reading this twitter feed and I find myself thinking, yea, I know a lot of kids like him. Just regular young adults who watch too much tv, play a sport, grew up here, stressed about school..
