Blondie was born on January 2nd, 2004 and he had 1 brother and 3 sisters. They were all bought from the breeder, and my mother knows 2 people who also got puppies, they work at the same hospital as she does. She often asked about the puppies, how they were doing and we found out the other male also got ehrlichia :)mad: nasty ticks) but he's also doing fine now.

We recently found out the female dog is being given away because nobody at home wants to take care of her anymore. They say they all work and don't have time to spend with her, besides she does "messes" all over the house and they're tired of dealing with it. That broke my heart and I immediately asked my parents if we could adopt her. She's Blondie's sister, so I consider her family!! Her name's Princess and they say she looks just like Blondie.

My dad doesn't want to have another dog but I don't really care what he thinks because he doesn't make the big decisions at home :p and I have almost conviced my mom to take the girl in. I'm sure she's going to be terrific company for Blondie, and it's sweet that they're brother and sister!

Now I would like some advice from you, because I'm also worried. If we adopt the girl, I mean it's been over a year Blondie's been with us and he's the baby. He's used to be spoiled and the only one around. He's afraid of other dogs, and has never been comfortable around other puppies. I'm afraid he won't want to share his room :( or toys, he doesn't think he's a dog! Maybe he will think we got him a puppy or something, I just want them to get along fine! Of course I'll have the girl fixed if she's not, and will take care of fleas and ticks before bringing her home. I'd also like to know if it's better to keep her away from Blondie in case she has some infection or disease that I don't want him to get... Could you please help me with some ideas? Thank you!

Get her checked over by the vet before you introduce her to Blondie if you can. But since you've got Blondie up on all his shots, if you can't, you should be okay. You'll want to clean her up well first, of course, to make sure there aren't any ticks. Blondie's had more than enough of ticks!

Blondie may or may not remember his sister that well, but they're both young enough to be willing to accept each other, especially since they are, of course, the same age and can play together.

I hope you get to bring Princess home!

Oh Renee I want to bring her home so badly!! My mother doesn't think Blondie will remember his sister, they were together only for a month and a half, and he's still so afraid of dogs. I do think he's young enough to accept her and I would love him to have her to play around, and not be as lonely, but he's very spoiled... Do you think they'll adapt soon? Where should she sleep, being him the "alpha", is it okay to have him share his bedroom? Of course I don't want any ticks on her, that would be too dangerous for Blondie. And I'm worried because I don't know if the girl has been spayed, if she hasn't I will have to do it and I don't know how well we can take care of her the first days at home. She might hate us forever for causing her so much pain when she's first getting to know us!! :(

speaking from one person that just took a new dog in the house..you have to play it by ear..Vic and Nic took right off with each other..but Mary seems a bit sad. I took her for icecream, and will give her special attention so she will not mind so much.
