HER OWN PLANET

I owned 2 back in the eighties. They are fiercely protective of one owner. Excellent hunters. Very large. I would say that I personally would consider them to be an agressive breed as are Walkers, Blue tic, Redbone and most larger hunting hounds. They are bred to track and corner their prey. Maynard and Tyrell also killed my Kirby vaccume. When we lived in the country they were happy but when we moved to the city they were not and we could not trust them with the neighborhood children and pets so they had to be re-homed back to a country setting.
We first had to be sure that the boys would accept their new owner by him coming over daily to spend time with them and it took well over a month before they became trusting and friendly with him. They lived a great life and were very close to the new owner and no longer accepted me after a years time.
Black and Tans are great dogs if you have the right setting and plenty of time to run them or let them be out hunting it iis what they do best. I would not advise them for city and apartment living.
